->Rs ~ 50k

* What will be your primary usage for the notebook be?

-> Running VMware. May have to run multiple vms at the same time. Hence multi core preferred

* What size and weight considerations do you have?

-> NA

* Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest?

-> HP/Acer preferred

* Any other considerations?

-> Decent graphics card. 4GB DDR3 Ram
 
All i3/i5 mobile processors come with VT support. So I'd suggest ACER 5740G with ATI 5650 graphics which is well within your budget. Check out some reviews. :)
 
fedora/open suse should work with ati 5650.

if you want something better try the msi megabook classic/professional series with the core i5 @ 45k and an ati 5470 - different screen sizes available with 2 years international warranty.

or the sony vaio vpc26 something -- thatis an equally good config @ 56k.
