Budget 41-50k Laptop from USA ($600-750)

Hello TEs,

My friend is coming from USA and guess what! he will get me a new laptop! (of course I have to order online with my credit card :p)
  • What's your Budget? $600-$750
  • What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? studying, programming, CAD, MATLAB, browsing, music
  • What size and weight considerations do you have? 14" or 15.6" (For studies I think 14" is better?)
  • Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? Lenovo, Dell, others
  • Any other considerations? min 4-5 hours battery life, min Intel core i5 4200M processor (no AMD plz), 8GB, 1TB, graphics card not necessary, weight not more than 2.5kgs as I would be carrying this laptop daily to college and most of the studies happen over it so I want it to be handy/portable.
 
Hi Brand Wise I prefer Dell or HP and they are fairly stable without any major issues. Toshiba is also good. No experience with Lenovo.
Screen size as you have mentioned may be CAD then try to get a 15.6 or 17" one
The lighter the weight I have see higher the price.
For your budget you can easily pick up 17" from Dell or HP with Core i5
