Laptops Laptop Graphics Performance

For those of you who have laptops with 3d cards .... How is the performance in real world gaming?
I want to play Half- Life episode 2 and other new games at decent settings and frame rates but I cannot afford a full fledged gaming laptop, just something below 50-55k

Will an 8600GT do?
How low (graphics card) can I go?

How about if I get it from the USA? Is the warranty valid here?

am not an expert but m playin crysis on my lappy at 1024*768 wid medium settings n the rig costed me 53,500....(even after that everybody on this website gave me a thumbs down sayin that i cud have bargained the price down furthur....hehe)
well go for the inspiron 1520, customize it, get a gud proc...... n get the 8600....if u just wana play half life 2.......u can even go wid a 8400 i supose n it too will giv u decent frame rates n just upgradin the card after the orignal config will cost u around 42......

i hav got a c2d 7250 proc, 2 gb ram n nvidia 8600 gt......
u can go in wid the basic proc... 5250, 2 gb ram( thats standard option....) and a 8400 gs(128 mb)... the nvidia 8400 wonn play the latest games ( crysis, hell gate londo n stuff) but it def wonn disappoint u wid older titles....
