Hey ppl i have a problem and need a quick fix
my dads given me his sony vaio to take to paris for eswc which i can use to practice on and its got a 13" widescreen with a max resolution of 1280x800.
thing is, i cant play trackmania at that resolution because it doesnt run smoothly and if i try smoother resolutions like 640x480 or 800x600 , it makes a small compressed 640x480 or 800x600 (unstretched) box of those sizes ingame and everything else is black.
what can i do to bloat the resolution over the full screen ?
os - windows vista (uugh)

..using latest intel 945gm graphics drivers for the 32 bit version of windows vista which is on the laptop
i cant understand why it cant be a proper fullscreen mode

Hmm, Check ur graphics card driver settings if settings are provided for native resolution.. Stretching should be specified instead of maintaining the native resolution..

If those settings are unavailable under graphics options, check for the latest drivers for ur graphics card which may solve ur problem.

thanks alias kinda got the idea of what i had to do because of your response

well incase someone else came across the problem heres the solution

right click on the desktop> graphic options > panel fit > select full desktop (no border)
other options were center desktop and maintain aspect ratio. the problem was caused because the former was selected

thanks for your help !
