Laptops Laptop Mobo Replacment Help...

Hi Guys ..

A frnd of mine had been merrily using his lappy wen suddenly the comp went blank ..

He tried some revival methods bt finally had to submit it to the Dealer from whom he bought it ..

The laptop is P4 base machine and is now out of warranty ..

upon inspection it was found that the mobo has conked off completly and needs to be replaced.. the dealre quoted a price of 13k ..

Now because the laptop si kinda old .. and the price being asked for the mobo replacement is 13k .. i wd like to ask for some advice..

Wot is the best option for him at the moment ..

shd he go for any other change as well or shd it be a plain change of the mobo only .. i mean the proccy be same or shd an upgrade be considered..

and is the 13k price justified..?

he has 256MB RAM on his machine..

Needless to say .. i am not too mch into lappys so i am out of any kno how abt the lappys at the moment that wd benefit him....

EDIT: Oh and he is open to the option IF the need be .. he is willing to put the lappy up for sale sans the mobo ofcource wot wd be the tentative price for that rig?? .. bt pls do tell the other option which can be exercised the sale is the LAST of the LAST option for him..

Put this much more and a new lappy, thats what i would have done if i was in your place:D
 
Try the motherboard in Nehru Place, though it'll be hard to find, 13k is too much for the mobo, it should be around 5-7 k.

Don't even think about upgrading the mobo and processor as for the price it would be better to invest in a new laptop and also it will not be compatible with the system.

And if you are planning to put the laptop for sale without the mobo, better use it as a paper weight:bleh: coz no one would even bother looking at it.
 
^^ ofcource i dont mean to sell it over here .. i kno no1 here wil be taking it unless anybody is on coke for long .. :bleh:

basically want to ask wot shd be done wid the laptop .. u certainly cant keep it like trash at ur place..
 
that option is out mate.. either the lappy wd be sold as whole w/o the mobo or that creep wil def go for a mobo replacement ...

the main options that are :

1) Get the mobo replaced

2) Get an upgrade done

3) Sell the laptop off / Dump it

Now which one is the best ..
 
Tell me your lappy model, Let me check if I can find an used mobo for u. I think new mobo cost is around 10k and wont have 1yr warranty.
