Hi,

Can someone please suggest a laptop.
The primary usage is:
1 .Needed for Downloading using an external HDD, would like a small SSD, or atleast have the option to add one.
2. Need an HDMI port to connect to a HD TV for watching fullHD movies. so a small GPU is sufficient, I would like the res. to be 1080p but can be avoided if thats taking a making it expensive.
3. Need a USB 3.0 to transfer files to and frow fast enough, i hate waiting.

Budget if a max of 40-45K. and not more.

It can be brought down from the US so that not an issue either.

Guys lease suggest something sturdy...
Lets see what we come up with.

:)

They both go above the budget with an SSD.

Can you suggest any without an SSD, can I connect an 2.5 inch SSD to a lap top?

a download rig will not need a ssd .. given the current price/gb of ssd it will be a waste for ur usage

Oh well, Its not really a download machine, I would like to take it along on while travelling as well,

I would like an SSD seeing how much of a boost it gives to my other machines, thats the only reason.

I intend to keep everything else Movies, Music on external HDD's so no need for bigger capacity HDD but a small 60Gb SSD is plenty for me.

how about this

ASUS Eee PC 1215B AMD Dual Core Netbook Radeon 320GB/2GB/DOS

Seems nice, but how is the CPU E350 1Ghz...?? Seems less and 2 Gb Ram as well, now a days atleast 4 Gb I say is useful....

Also can I swap in a SSD here?

Do they have a slightly higher FullHD model?

Would say to wait for the Ultrabooks, if they come within your budget. Right now they are starting at 1k+, which is exactly the upper end of your budget.

Also rather than go with the above, go with HP dm1z, it has the newer E-450 APU. Swap out the HDD for an SSD, you will have to format and all, since each byte of space on SSD is sacred, cant keep the bloated HP software/recovery partitions.

I dont think these will come with full HD displays.

Yeh, What you are saying I think is right.

I was reading about the Acer Aspire 3951 and it seems really nice.

Slightly over the budget but it ticks all the right check boxes for me.

I hope it is released soon and at a reasonable price, I am hearing it might be about 45K,

I dont mind extending the budget for that one.

^^ Thats fine...I think m gonna go for the Acer, 3951 or atleast that top of the list so far.

Any suggestions.....?
