Laptop on a Budget . Under 25k Please. BUYING TOMORROW

Hi All.

My friend is looking for a laptop. Its a she if that matters. 25k is the budget.

She needs this for

1. facebook, orkut, skype, gtalk etc

2. Office Apps

3. MS Visual studio 6, 2005, 2008 --> This is very important.

For some hard core Application study and all. COM, GDI, OpenGL etc.

Good battery life also necessary

No gaming whatsoever. other than the flash games. :D.

Budget is 25k. Tops. Shipping and all including.

Warranty should be there for 1 year min ofcourse.

2 models under valuation.

Avoid the seller 'aeqvitas.in' His warranty info states its 'dealers warranty' in 'shipping and payments' tab.

This costs 26k but has a 2nd gen Core i3-2310 :) It has bettery battery life than C2D and 1st gen Core i3. Also the integrated HD3000 graphics of the latest gen. pwns the older intel IGP's :)

PS: None of the laptops that you have listed has C2D :P The MSI is a first gen. Core i3-350M and the next two have PDC P6200 (Same arrandale core of i3-350M but lacks Virtualization. So no VMWare and also it lacks Hyper threading). All the three laptops are arrandale 32nm chips.

Ok. I will tell her to increase the budget a bit.

But nothing under the 25k.?

Also the guy says dealer warranty and manufacturer warranty at the same time. :S.

I dont think she cares that much about core i3 or core 2 duo. if the price is less and it gets the job done 100% then she is cool with both.

He modified the details. check the 19k laptop again please. Do u think the absence of VM and HT will affect that much?

She just needs to run few applications of the above stuff and debug.

Here check the review. For the price its decent. Config is almost similar. Review config has P6100(2GHz) instead of P6200(2.13GHz) So CPU perfomance should go up by ~5%-6%. Then it has 4GB RAM. You can add 2GB yourself for as low as 1.1k :)

- Low performance (should suffice for your usage though)

One major -ve of the laptop is that it got only 2 USB 2.0 ports and the mouse keys are clattery. If you dont use more than 2 USB 2.0 at a time and use a external mouse most times then it should be a non-issue.

She has 0 knowledge in these matters. and me also similar to that. :D. Just for the usages i listed is that 20k laptop enough?

VM is not necessary. And other than few multithreading samples. no bigger stuff.

You dont even know how many USB ports is needed or will she use a mouse :S
Yeah its sufficient for the mentioned usage. That processor is better than a older gen C2D T6600 2.2Ghz. So it has plenty of power for your needs.
If need be just upgrade the RAM in the future. If its manufacturer warranty as the seller has corrected then its a good deal. Go ahead with it.

I was talking from the VM and HT POV. Not the interfaces. They are enough for usage. she will be using a BT or wired mouse. and sometimes connect a USB drive. thats it. nothing else.

Ok. I thought it also meant about the interfaces. Then go ahead with the purchase. I dont think you will get a similar config for cheaper than this.
 
So i got the laptop yesterday. Build qlty is just fine. and i loved the laptop.

One pblm. When i check the warranty online, it started from feb 2011 to feb 2012. :S. I registered the laptop using online registration yesterday only. :S.

I asked the dealer abt this, he said ill get 1 year from date of purchase.

Can anyone comment on this?

I think 1k is WORTH IT, why?

1. Lighter laptop possibly

2. Greater battery laptop

3. Runs cooler

4. Runs everything faster

All for 1k, grab the Core i3 2130 it's a non-regrettable decision

Errr... GO through the previous posts before commenting. He has already got the Toshibha C660 with P6200 proccy (Arrandale)
 
Hey guys want to buy laptop for my sister. Laptop will be used for Movies,Songs,Facebook and MS office. Budget is 25k(can stretch if getting something good).

Using the 5742z and the build is pretty good for the price. If you want something lighter go for the 14" cher
