A friend of mine was looking to buy a laptop, buying tomorrow if everything goes well.

Budget ~28-33k

Primary Use - Dev,General Applications,Reading,browsing. No Gaming.

Size ~14/15"
Battery Life - Moderate to Good

Other Considerations - Build Quality is of high priority,Aluminum/Metal build would be nice. Matte Screen/finish preferred. Good quality LCD also preferred.
Other minor things like USB 3.0,esata would be a bonus.

I have hp probook in my mind,What are the other options which i have?
Don't have any brand preference, but should have decent ASS.

Pour in your suggestions folks.
Thanks

No opinions since you already have zeroed in on the best choice for your need :) The Probook has a solid review HP ProBook 4430s-XU013UT Laptop Review - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

It also fits your needs very well. Only minor -ve is the smallish touchpad. So go ahead with it.

Another option is the Dell Vostro 3450. Flipkart.com: Dell Vostro 3450 2nd Gen Ci3/ 2GB/ 320GB: Computer

^ how about this one?

Flipkart.com: HP 630 Series Essential 630 ( Ci5): Computer

Here's a comparison of the 2:

Also, off topic:

1. How much of a difference does the cache on the 2 laptops make? {one has: 3 MB (Smart Cache) while the other has 3 MB (L2 Cache)}

2. Whats the difference between Intel HD Graphics 3000 and Intel HD Graphics? Can laptops with these specs play atleast some games like PES/FIFA stuff with decent quality?

Thanks folks, bought the probook :)

Excellent hardware for the price.

red_devil,

Smart cache is just another marketing speak.

Both the laptops have HD 3000 ,flipkart is terribly accurate when it comes to the specs (especially usb 3.0!!).

^ how much did it cost? and where did you buy it from?

and is it capable enough to handle at least some of the current games?

Bought from Chennai, ~32k.

I didnt get enough time to try games. Its still Intel, don't expect miracles. An occasional nfs, css, warcraft would work.

What i liked is its lightness, build and reasonable battery perf, matt screen(quite a huge difference from all those gloss stuff you see around).

Now buy a 4GB module DDR3 module and a set of precision screwdrivers and upgrade it to 6GB :) [It comes with a single DIMM]

Seems to be a good buy from the review. The 4430 from flipkart seems to be out of stock, and on ebay.in it is costly and seems to be imported from USA. How does probook 4530 compare to 4430? As I see, the only difference is in screen size.. Will the screen be sharp enough considering there are less pixels per inch?
