Laptops Laptop screen faulty!! Help!

My friend's laptop screen all of a sudden doesn't seem to be working properly. Tried reinstalling the gfx drivers, windows, etc etc. It aint working properly. Half the screen remains blank. Have taken it to the Sony service center, but they are asking a massive amount to replace the screen. Anybody know of any laptop repair shops in Bangalore?

Laptop is a Sony VGN-AR52DB (Type A)

 
i had same problem and i change my sony vaio laptop lcd 14.1 my own at 4500 here they charge to replaced lcd Rs.250 extra but i know how to chage so i change it my own
 
This can actually be one of the 3 faults

- LCD faulty

- Motherboard issue

- Cable connecting LCD to motherboard faulty

In order to figure out if LCD is faulty or not, you just need to plug in an external LCD monitor/CRT monitor and see if this is reproduced on that external monitor or not. If it doesn't LCD is faulty, otherwise it could be one of the other 2 faults.
