Laptop Speakers for Mom

Quick, need to get a laptop speaker for Mom today as she has been complaining about the lack of volume on her lappy.

Key requirements: Small, handy , portable and decently loud...And preferably, no need for an external power suupply...

The musicality/faithfulness of reproduction is not a major criteria as these are not meant to play music for an audiophile

price is not a big concern, but value for money is

i.e I am willing to shell out 5K for a speaker that is way better than a 1K speaker...but not if the difference is small

you will get the x mini and ximini max and iduo in mumbai.

xmini max will set you back by about 1800 bucks and iduo by about 1400 bucks.(mahadev computers)

pros

1. size. (they are really compact)

2. volume (for there size they sound excellent)

3. inbuild rechargable battery is a big big plus to the conventional AA batteries.

4. usb charging

i myself got the iduo this weekend.

Mind you iduo is a rip off from the orginal xmini

but few pros are

1. you find things like a volume control

2. like the design better as the usb charging thing and the line in control are separate from each other so less messy cables and also it is easy to get a mini usb cable a 3.5 mm male - male cable but certainly not that cable which they use with the xmini (a full usb at one end and two mini usb and a 3.5 mm jack at other)

cons.

though you cannot use them independently like the xmini max as line in is only in one of the speakers.

sound quality sounded same to me for both to my ears atleast.

prime has atleast listed the xmini on there site
