bro wants to buy a laptop. he will be getting it from the usa from his friend.

wanted to know which to get as i have no idea about laptops which is better. amd turion, amd athlon, pentium M, pentium dual core etc etc.

laptop is needed mainly for using 3dmax & rendering & some video editing. so i think dual core should be better. let me know which to get & also the links.

these are just some random laptops he found on the net. how good are these & which is the best.

whats the price of that chaos?

budget is not too high

& i dont think a 7800gtx or any good gfx card will make a diff in 3dmax. any onboard gfx should do fine.

how is intel core duo? is the fastest processor available for the laptops. 1.83ghz intel core duo. is it going to be the same as amd x2 3800 which is also 1.8ghz

Depends upon what you are doing. If you are modelling, 3dsmax will die without good graphics when it has to handle millions of polys. There's nothing more irritating than waiting for the viewport to refresh everytime you move the model. If you are only rendering, then the video card is useless. Decide on that. You might want to also look at the upcoming thinkpads with FireGL graphics and core duo CPUs.

dell xps is a waste according to me cause of no discount coupons. heh & plus its too heavy etc etc & not duo core.

how is this config guys. for 1550$
dell inspiron 9400
1.83ghz intel duo core
1gb ddr2 533mhz
60gb hdd 5400rpm
geforce 7800go
8xdvdwriter
17inch screen

rest all normal stuff i guess.

& no1 answered my query before is this 1.83ghz similar or equivalent to x2 3800?

Get 2GB and a 7200 rpm drive. Makes a hell of a lot of difference for 3dsmax.

i can get the hdd here later n upgrade thats y chose this.

& as far as ram goes let me tell u dell is charging a fortune for ram so its not worth it. i can upgrade later buy buying.
