Laptops Laptop to import from US.

Guide
hi people.
My aunt is coming from states in july 1st week and i was thinking of importing a laptop for me.
I already have xps 1210 for myself but just browsed through newegg and found some nice configs at decent prices. And i do need 1 more lappie so that my dad and sis and even I can occasionally use it.
I want a good configuration. decent GPU will be added bonus.
Budget = 50-55k.
I know i can probably get the Dell inspiron 6400 for the same price but there are better options on newegg.
Any suggestions?

These following two configs from ASUS looks decent for the price. But I am open to suggestions. Looking for something in $1250-1300 range.

Newegg.com - ASUS F3 Series F3SE-X1 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7100(1.80GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 1GB DDR2 667 160GB 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon X2500 - Retail

Newegg.com - ASUS F3 Series F3JP-AP035C-A NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7200(2.00GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 1GB DDR2 667 120GB 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 - Retail

The first ASUS one looks very good and is Santa Rosa (i think). That would be a good option. You can get the Inspiron 6400 configured to slightly better specs in that budget i guess.

Nah, 6400 turns out to be much more expensive if you choose T7xxx series C2D. and they no longer have option to upgrade GPU on 6400 in India :@

I dont have time to get dell customized from the US and i dont trust my aunt to follow up with customization as she really does not know much about hardware. So if she screws up then i am screwed. Here i can just send the link and she can purchase.

15.4 sucks....go for a smaller screen IMO..15.4 is not even a laptop :S

Depends...I dont travel much...Now wish I had gone for 15.4 instead of the 14"Asus A8JP. I got that frm newegg...

You can always attach a LCD..which isnt too expensive in the first case, but you still get great portability with the smaller laptop.

yeah they do. Infact the nearest store in LA is just 10mins away from where my aunt stays.

She is gonna go there personally tomorrow with the printouts of the config i need and see if it can be picked up locally.

:D :D Looks like you are geting a great deal there...
I'm also planning to get a laptop soon, so can you tell me if these stores deliver to INdia.. How reliable are they..??

Edit: Checked their site and got this info: Currently, costco.com offers shipping in the United States only and to Canada through our website located at costco.ca. :( Guess I would have to settle for a HP Pavilion dv6314TX..! :(

well there are very few stores in US that deliever here....and that wont be worth it.....ur best bet is to ask sum1 whos goin to us, and/or cuming here to get one for u......Costco offers custom LAppys for HP only, but they are great...
