As the title says , i need suggestions on a LCD TV plus a Home Theatre System to go with it in 50Kz ........32" preferred , not too much of a boom-boom system , but god sound , and a free XBOX360 wud seal the deal :P...../jk

Btw , will i be able to build a descent HTPC in this budget replacing the HTS ?

Wanna buy today itself , so a fast response will be appreciated :D

For the 32" LCD I'm not too sure since I'm not in touch with the market.

You LCD will cost you around 40k (Since you'll obviously be buying FullHD) so a HT in 10k will be very tight.

You might have to go with some used components for a HTPC with a custom low cost case and cut you speakers to a basic 2.1 system for the time being.

Sony 32S310a is 32k in grey(this is the VFM in your budget), that leaves you with 18k for Home theatre.
If you plan to get a HTPC, then
780g based MB + Proc ~ 7k,
RAM ~ 2k,
Cabinet and Power supply ~ 3k (Keeping Zebronics cube in mind),
Wireless Keyboars and Mouse ~ 1.2k
Total ~ 13k
(You need to use the onboard sound)

You will be having 5k left for your speakers. (Its difficult to get a good 5.1 speakers in this budget :P )

Anish, is it possible to make out the difference between full HD and 720p in 32" size?

Full HD is not a requirement for one , and i would prefer spending a bit extra and purchase something with warranty....Also , i guess i would be using 2.1s only , as the room is kinda smallish , and won't do justice to the 5.1s

Grey Prices are really low, you can not get the same models with warranty just by paying a bit more. For Example sony 32s310a is selling for around 44k (MRP is 48k) with warranty, but in grey you can get it for as low as 32k (almost 25% less). Moreover the warranty here is just for 12 months, its very rare for an LCD to go kaput within 12 months. But its your take.....

If you are planning not to get in grey, then you need to sell out atleast 40k for a decent 32" LCD tv, that leaves you with around 10k for a home theatre.... then again its hard to get a decent home theatre for 10k...........

Increase your budget :ohyeah:

EDIT:
You have an option......... you can just buy a AltecLansing MX5021 2.1 speakers and a separate DVD player with HDMI out, both should come around 10k. (you can not play the HD rips with this, though). (To play the HD rips you can use your existing desktop, run a lengthy HDMI cable to the TV)

Yup, get the Bravia 32 incher and an HTPC done as man said;

If u can increase ur budget, the speakers can fit as well; :)

ok.........just came back from Croma nd Vijay Sales, have lotsa options , but i talked to a few guys , they suggested i stick with a Dell 2408 US screen and a HTPC , as my space , as i checked right now , cant house anything wider than 29" :(....Hows this option then ?

I did , costing around 35k with a decent Philips DVD player , but the Dell 2408 + HTPC really grabbed my attention , only problem being it will not be as easy to operate as a normal TV ....

So any suggestions in this matter ?

Ok , will it be similar to the "Just ON/OFF" Functionality of a conventional TV ? Coz its my grandma and folks who need to use this , not me , i live on the TV Series on my Rig :P

Oops, they might have some tough time adapting to an HTPC + a 2408 rather than a conventional LCD + DVD setup; :P

However with an HTPC + 2408 + a TV Tuner, all the functionality of a good HTPC is spot on!! :)

Yea, keep the HTPC on 24x7 (So they don;t have worry about booting the PC, etc) and teach them how to use the MCE interface. That's pretty easy to learn.

hmm...k , still a bit skeptical about the adaptation part .... :P ....will ahve to weigh all these points out before i make the decision , thanks for the help folks , any more suggestions will be appreciated :D

If its for anyone other than u, don bother with a Monitor and htpc..
Not worth it, and folks will be cribbling all time cursing and calling all time for help..lol

Get a normal tv, get a dvd player, get a music system, simple and straightforward..
for thoise times wen u feel the urge to watch ur high def content, get a laptop or something...that wil do the trick..
