LCD Tv or LCD screen for X360

Hi Guys,

I was thinking of maybe buyin an Xbox 360 and an HDTV sometime at the end of this year. THe thing is I dont have too much to spend on a great plasma tv or smthin, so wat wd u guys suggest as the most economic means to enjoy xbox 360 visuals, a big LCD monitor (20 or 22") or a LCD tv. Budget say 40k. The display doesnt need to 40" or smthin

40k = Dell 2405 :D. Or you can wait for 2407 with HDMI inputs (I think). It does 1080p, which no LCD TV at twice the price will do.
 
THanks for the suggestion guys, unfortunately I cant reply back fast bcoz of no connection at home. DO i need any additional cables to connect to a pc monitor or is tht part of the standard xbox 360 package

ask chaos.... he has an xbox 360(at least I THINK he has.... being an MS employee and all :P ) and a Dell 2005 FPW. So, he would know better
 
OH sh#t!! THe TE meet, I jst saw the thread tht wd be the best place to find out!! Well I shd be there, bt I hve a silly workshop in the evening, can i make it in the evenin? Oh thts really great. Nikhil dude, what is the venue, maybe it could be updated on the first page of the thread. But I cd probably make only in the evenin. I shd also check the ITdepot i spose for some stuff

Venue is Chaos' house. Malleshwaram. The whole day. You can join us in the morning and then go in the afternoon for your workshop.

It is a lanparty...so get your rig too.
 
Thanks Nikhil, I will get on to that thread. Ok heres wat I was thinking, wouldnt it be better to invest in an x360 first n check out how it works wt my normal sony 21" TV? THen obviously save a lot n go for this dell monitor which looks delicious ;)....mayb v shd convince Chaos to upgrade his screen n do some charity work...j/k

I saw x360 at a TOSHIBA showroom in Manipal and the guy was selling it fr 38K with a smug look on his face, which i felt like wiping off with a punch to his nose. It was hooked up to a 37 inch LCD tv. Damn it looked great playin project Gotham Racing 3 on it droooooooool
 
Isnt buying a LCD TV is cheaper than buying a LCD Monitor?

So hed rather buy a 21" LCD TV?

Wont it be cheaper?
32" Sony Bravia is for 70k.
So 21" Sony/LG or sumthing will be much cheaper wont it?

Why are you comparing 32" LCD Tv with 21" LCD monitor?

Dell 2405 is 40k + taxes (iirc) and a samsung 26" is listed for 70k here The final price may be a little less, but lcd tv will have a resolution of 1366X768, which u cannot compare to the Dell's 1920X1200
 
Get the Dell 2405/7. You can connect ur xbox and comp at the same time. Also no HDTV will match the resolution of the dell.

PS: I still don't have an xbox 360 :P. I'm not impressed by it lol and the price is ridiculous. I do have the controller plugged into my pc to play all the xbox to pc ports without hiccups :P
 
Thanks for the advice all. The cheapest LCD TV is the samsung one I think, around 40K. But I dnt know how good it is in the first place. THeres also the Sharp for 45k I think. But all these are 20" which is ok with me, but I dont know about the feature sets (HD enabled etc.)n wether it would enhance x360 video experience.

Also is the Xbox 360 playable on the standar CRT Tvs? THere wont be any aspect problems or something of the sort?

The dell seems the best option unless of course I can hook up my pc to the LCD TV, I think I can but then I don't know about the IQ
 
You can ofcourse hookup your PC to the LCD TV.

Just need a S-Video Cable.

XBox 360 on a CRT wont cause any problems either...

Most LCD Tv's come with a VGA port, so that shouldnt be a prob. anyway.

Also there should be no prob. if you hook up your X360 to a normal CRT TV. Its just that X360 is hi-def capable, but the CRT wont really display all the goodies, ie the display will hold you back.
 
I guess I will wait until after the bangalore meet where i wud a chance to c Chaos' display first hand and also get valuable suggestions frm every1
 
Ok guys dilemma time: Called up dell and they said the monitor 2407 was retailing for Rs 40154.44 till the end of the month and tht it is actually priced at 60K (dunno wether tht was jst a marketing gimmick).

Also the now Xbox 360 would be launched Oct 21st as posted in another thread.

So now...Should I just postpone all plans?
 
Thought as much, but this monitor is not sposed to be as good as the 2405 is it? In fact I couldnt find any reviews, except forums complaining bout it

N the X360 ix slated to be released here in oct so....???

N the PS3 is coming to India too? In Nov.? Man this makes everything so complicated.
