Pull your handbrake when you doing that. then take your leg off the brake pedal and do your half clutch thing and once you're happy, disengage the handbrake and accelerate up.

I also have a little problem and don't want to make a separate thread. :P

I've learned to drive this year back in Feb. I drive smoothly on straight roads but i get baffled every time i face an uphill. Once i had to stop behind a Auto rickshaw and in front of a santro car on uphill, i hold on to a brake and when it was a time to move, i couldn't control the car as it started to move backwards after releasing the brakes. Before it would hit a car behind, i somehow managed to move the car forwards but throttled too much and was about to hit an auto rickshaw. :ashamed:. Thank god the hill was of short length and i somehow managed to cross it. Now, i always fear of not getting in this situation again while driving.

I would like to know how you guys stop the car and cruise it forward safely while driving up on a uphill and what is the best and easiest way to drive a car on an uphill?
Refer post above. Change the reverse gear to first gear and you are good :) Practise this a bit on Sundays or other days when there is no traffic, at some nearby slope. Can even be a garage entrance or something like that.

I have seen some folks suggesting this, but I find this a bit more tedious than relying just on your legs as this approach requires your hands also to be alert and quick.

No offense but, Not really. It isnt something like you have to balance the car and letting one hand go off the steering will make the car topple over. :P

^ LOL, no. It might be because I don't like moving my hands around a lot while driving. Prefer them to be steady rather than wandering. That said, I mostly drive single handed :D

Me too, I drive single handedly with exceptions of when there is a very acute or a U turn. Else I mostly drive single handedly and my left hand rests on the arm rest.

Only practice will get you the perfection to time the clutch accelerator properly. initially you can be a little heavy on the clutch for avoiding jerks. both during gear change and start. in simpler words, do not let go of the clutch completlely before accelerating.. dont accelerate too much . during stary...you can also try this: do not press the accelerator at all just slowly, very slowly relaease the clutch...completely...this will get your car in motion and you can start accelerating away.

this practice is fine for a steep uphill but try to avoid this since you would risk your car to stall incase you get your car in control with your clutch and accelerator.

Very nice thread for all experts and noob drivers..

I dont have any driving issues but i always have some fear in mind regarding parking between two cars or in tiny spaces :( I have been driving since 6 yrs now but always have this parking issue.. While parking in little space, i actually touched a crv bumper long time back but thankfully nothing happened to either of the cars & it was a service center..;)

I appreciate the people who actually park their cars in tiny places no matter what.

I have an Old Honda city, bit long car and whenever i have to visit a new place, the first thing which comes to my mind is 'will i get any ample space for parking & if not then how to manage between those tiny spaces or between two cars'..i feel very embarrassed then..:ashamed:

^ Do you have rear parking sensors installed? Best is to get them installed and enter the space between two cars in the reverse, the parking sensors assist you to upto 0.3 meters distance and it makes it relatively easier. :)

Nop i dont have them & it wasnt for the yr 2000 model. Also cant install them as the bumper isnt suitable for the mod. Only newer after 2005 can avail this facility. :(
