Has anyone tried using LED tubelights? Any inputs regarding make / model / luminous efficiency / cost would be appreciated.

Had purchased one from kumaar.com
I wanted to try for my factory but ended up have it installed in my living room.
I don't find it worth the price.

Currently the price vs power savings just doesn't work out.The only reason to buy them is if you want to go green.

No hassle to replace the tube for next 10 yrs or so, and there is no step down used. It works straight over 240v.

i am eagerly wating for philips to launch this led bulb in india..
It look so nice in picture and has great review to but it will be costly..

While the LED may theoretically have a long life the same cannot be said to the AC to DC power supply inside the bulb.

Only a few bulbs have a AC emitter inside which doesn't require a power supply.

Reminds me of few of the led emergency lamps I got from eBay. The circuit inside had cheap caps which exploded or puffed up. Have some pics of those too.

Not comparing these Chinese ones to branded, but its a possibility that this could happen if there is no AC adapter used.

Totally agree but these are built with resistors to absorb the energy incase that led fails. I too have had those bursting experience from not so cheap Chinese lights obviously purchased via ebay few yrs back. But the tubelights are quiet expensive and surely long lasting. Should be completing 2 yrs now.

What is the lumen output on these branded led bars? Are they bright enough to justify the cost? My guess is, that since its just coming to consumer markets now, manufacturer's are trying to milk consumer's off now.

Those are really el cheapo designs better ones have a PWM circuit and even they can fail if cooling is in adequate and if there is a high voltage .

AC emitters can also die if they get a high voltage.
