The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon was launched a few months ago. Touted by Lenovo as the world's slimmest ultrabook, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon delivered where it promised, but of course at a price premium. Today, Lenovo officially confirms the X1 Carbon Touch, the touch screen version of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

The Lenovo ThinkPAd X1 Carbon Touch shares the same internal specifications as the earlier non-touch based model. That's where the similarities end. The ultrabook is dimensionally larger. Here's a comparision:
X1 Carbon v/s Carbon Touch

  • 18 mm v/s 20.8 mm thickness
  • 3 pounds v/s 3.4 pounds weight

The differences aren't earth shattering, and people who liked the X1 Carbon and wanted some touch enabled love with the latest Windows 8 are not going to hesitate on this product as well. That said, the specifications of the device is pretty decent too.
X1 Carbon Touch Specifications

  • 14.4" HD+ (1600*900) display
  • Intel Ivy Bridge chipset (Core i5 or i7)
  • Dolby Home Theater v4
  • HD face tracking camera
  • Embedded 3G modem
  • Cabon Fiber chassis
  • 8.2 hours rated battery life
  • Microsoft Windows 8

Lenovo claims the X1 Carbon Touch to be the thinnest 14" touch screen ultrabook in the world. We'll see how that claim holds up when competition starts churning out similar products with identical claims soon.

The Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch sells at a $150 price premium over it's non-touch counter part, i.e. starting $1,399. Well, you get what you pay for, but you gotta pay for what you want. The X1 Carbon Touch is on sale, now.
