LOL, I can't wait for tomorrow and the news that follows. The so called "Software Partnership" may be anything, Qt on WP7? Office Suite on Symbian/MeeGo? Cross-platform apps? it can be anything, not just WP7 on a Nokia.

But WP7 is going to only for High-End OS more than 20k. what about Lower-end and mid-end markets which chineese handsets & android is eating market share of Nokia?

I too just saw the bloomberg report.

Looks like Nokia and Microsoft are very close to signing up a coopreration deal.

What this does mean is that there will be significant weight thrown by both Nokia with its hardware and Microsoft with it software to win back the highend smartphone market. The possibilities are unlimited.

It will be interesting to see the threeway fight shapes up in the coming year.

Apple vs Android (with varied h/w manufacturers) vs nokia-Microsoft...

Bring it on. I have my popcorn - coke ready to watch the battle.

WM7 on nokia doesn't look all that interesting. With wm7's stringent h/w requirements, all phones running it look almost the same. Nothing much to differentiate them. Nokia really needs meego to succeed to get back in the game.
Also, I feel they should have a lot less models. All this N/E/X/C nonsense is very confusing.

With Nokia-MS deal, MS might allow WP7 to scale to mid end devices(it wont be impossible, but would need more tweaks I guess), a win win for Nokia-MS and we need competition for Android in mid end devices.

I used to love nokia and bought from them whenever I needed a phone!!

But after going through their A.S.S. (nokia care) I'm never gonna buy from nokia again!!!

I mean, phones are nice, features are great, there's no prob with anything except the A.S.S.

Now I'm looking forward to Xperia play! :D

Frankly speaking Nokia A.S.S is zillion times better compared to HTC, Blackberry, Motorola and Samsung in India.

^That again is variable!!

Nokia A.s.s. near to my place is really crap! they actually broke my N78 while fixing it and charger 1k for doing a super crappy job on it!!!(They didnt give me the phone and refused to repair it further unless I pay!!! :S)

In some places, it might be operating ideally, satisfying customers etc.

But the rarity of ideal service is whats pushing me away!!

Everyone's best bet is to never ever be in such a situation that you have to take your phone to the A.S.S. period!

actually the hardware part of nokia phones is quite good. according to me(presently on N97 mini), have been using the symbian system since ages. What we get for the price we pay in terms of hardware for nokia is simply unbeatable (personel opinion dont flame me!!!!;P), have used nokia for long...i think the accessories and service available for their products is pretty unbeatable too. now only if they could tweak their software (smooth and fast) , they still could make it back quite quick. Also i really think that if nokia make an andriod device, i think that would chage the market equations in the Andriod world over night.....(just my thought)

If they get into Android and WP7 with competing hardware. Nokia will kill the likes of Samsung, HTC and Moto(oops they are already dead :P). I hate Nokia for there inability of providing anything beyond Symbian, how long can you be obsessed with obsolete OS.

Its high time they start listening to what Nokia's previous and existing customers have to say. Considering this customer of yours who had 80% Nokia phones of the total phones owned by the whole family eventually shifts to Android/BB because you refused to move on and stuck to redundant technology.

This happens when you have the largest market share. And one fine morning you get up and see yourself drowned. All they needed was UI innovation and touch screen optimization.

Yes the apps for symbian were always there.
Its only a matter of pimping their ui and touch optimization.
With their better ui they would need better hardware better screens.
Also keeping an open mind about os is the way to go forward.
Just take the example of samsung. They support almost all the os available In the market in terms of product portfolio.
They had their share of symbian ,windows, android and are also developing their in house os bada.
