Monitors LG LCD monitor

There was an ad in the Hindu today (21/3/07) about an offer from LG.

Exchange a working colour monitor for an 19 inch LCD monitor for Rs. 10,990 (Vat/ local taxes extra). Rs. 900/- will be charged towards evaluation of the condition of old monitor. The offer is valid for a period of 7 days from today.

Is it worth a deal?
Please give me some advice.

Since they're charging 900 bucks towards "evaluation", I'd say the entire deal is a ripoff

The LG L1952S boasts of 1600:1 contrast ratio. Does it mean anything? (viewsonic is 700:1).

I don't know much but definitely better contrast ratios is better. Better black I believe.

ya it makes a lot of difference.The greater the contrast ratio the better the black levels.High contrast ratio would actually result in blacks that look more like black and less like gray.

But before you buy, it is important to check out these monitors and not go by these specs alone.It is more likely LG is quoting things like Dynamic Contrast Ratio to get those specs.

Well , i too read a same offer from LG but i guess the model is without DVI input.Kind of necessary with lcds
