A few weeks ago, LG first announced the Optimus G Pro for Japan, which gave a glimpse at what is to expect. Yesterday, the South Korean based company went ahead and announced to the rest of the world that they are ready to unveil their new Optimus brand of smartphones. The LG Optimus G Pro is a 5.5 inch smartphone with LG’s first 1080p full HD display with a nearly razor-thin bezel. This display is peculiar, as it was said to be curved, which will allow what was described as a 2.5D effect. Where that .5 came from is beyond me, because, to me at least, that indicates that LG has uncovered half of a dimension, but we’ll just call it what it is. Curved displays have been long in the mill for the mobile tech world, and it’s nice to finally see one actually being used on a smartphone. We can reasonably expect LG to use a quad-core processor, much like the Snapdragon S4 Pro used in the Nexus 4, and the Optimus G released late last year, or maybe even one of the newer ones announced by Qualcomm at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last month. One could only hope. On the posterior side of the device, you’ll find a digital cube pattern that is similar to the one on the Nexus 4, which is a nice touch if you ask me.

As you can see from the pictures displayed, LG has adopted a design that is familiar to many of us, and comes in Black and White colors. While LG has eagerly announced the existence of the device, without official documentation, other specs will remain a mystery for now.
Neither pricing nor availability on this smartphone has yet been revealed, there’s not even a launch date for that matter. Many would like to be able to look forward to it coming sooner than later, especially with Mobile World Congress (MWC) on the horizon.

Officially announced on their website too.
