So, have been hooked on to this LCD TV ever since I saw it. Even more after learning it has USB 2.0 and like other TV's its not for show purposes but can even play DivX's from an external USB device. Now, I went to croma and asked if i would be allowed to check out the usb functionality before making a purchase, but i was turned down. So, im still looking somewhere where I can test if properly.

Coming to picture display , loved the IPS display screen and the quality of playback. TV comes with an inbuilt 3.1 audio speaker system too. At Croma I saw TATA SKY play on this thing and it was good as well.

More inclined to this only because of the "USB" function. Saves me a major hassle of building a HTPC and hence saving on the 10k+ cost there too.

So is there a already existing user of the tv on TE ? or anyone who is in the same dilemma as I am. If this doesn't work out and the observations turn negative then i'm all in for the Panasonic.

also some additional info found from the user manual. don't know what it means. maybe someone can shed some light.

BTW are you aware that the Panasonic 32x9D can accept a SD card and play movies off it? I think even x10 has the same feature IINM.

And you are aware that this one costs just 25.5K plus the ebay Diwali gift.

the Panasonic 32x9D is next on my list ofcourse, and the ebay offer is very tempting for sure, however i havent read anywhere it would support divx's , any source / link that would say it plays it all....

also i got the info from the rep in croma that the lg would support external storage of upto 500gb in size, now i wouldnt want to run around with a punny sized sd card removing and writing stuff on it for sure....but nevertheless the offer is too tempting. lots of time for diwali so dont wanna rush into this.

price from bandra kurla exhibition for the LG3280FR - 34k, 37k with free dvd player + 50 dvd's
In general, I found the prices of LG and Samsung at Times Utsav significantly higher than you can get outside. For obvious reasons, the companies cannot sell at a rate which will undercut their retailers.

No authoritative info. The Panasonic person I spoke to had told me that the x9D is identical to the x10 except the colour of the band in front. Their website says just plug in your SD card to play your "photos" - so it appears that it can't play video.
However, the ebay sale item clearly has a sentence in blue under "Features Overview" where he says:
- The TH-L32x9D features an SD Card Slot to provide High-Definition playback of movies and photos.
- Simply slot in an SD Memory card and the VIERA Image Viewerâ„¢ will help you view and play any clips and images.

So maybe you should send a question to the seller.

the X9 also lacks the side A/V input according to panasonic catalog.

One word = "AWSOME!!".....so finally i managed to convince someone , somewhere to show me the LG playing from my USB , I was carrying my 4gig with Heroes on it and it played f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c , automatically removed the black bordering too :O this TV is so mine :D ; everyone were like :O see it play , i think those guys were seeing it for the 1st time too.

I have the 42LG80FR. It can play divx's off USB but not MKVs. But then I have Popcorn Hour clone for all my HD needs.

However, for TV shows (american, not your saas-bahu) the built USB is very handy. The Divxes encoded from HDTV or Blu-ray shows are amazingly good for a divx. Watching Dexter/Heroes/Smallville full screen from tiny 350 MB file is way better than any TV channel in India even on Tata Sky.

Are you from Mumbai?
If yes, I can point you to a source at 33K. Note one small point about this model. The depth is much more than other LG models.

New TV Town at Mahim has posted on Naaptol at 32999

Click the New TV Town link and get Karan Dua's number. Speak to him and tell him you want that price because you saw it on Naaptol or he'll quote higher.

He had also offered me 3500 discount for exchange of my 21" LG Flatron but that was when I showed interest in the obsolete sammy LA32A450 so you may have to bargain with him a bit.

Another source is SL Electronics at Kalina. He is quoting the LF20 at 30K so you may get the LG80FR at a good price too. The price difference between these two models shouldn't be more than 2 to 3 K.
