Only way to learn, is to go and visit 
I'm British (but live in USA) and a country like Britain is so diverse, that reading books really won't help much. For example living in the country side is a totally different lifestyle than living in Central London..... It depends on what sort of lifestyle you want, the people are as diverse as the places they live in. It's the same here in the US, living Dallas Texas is completely different than living in New York City.
