hi,

  • What's your Budget? <50k would be preferable, but flexibe if the product meets expectations

  • What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? . web surfing/office apps/basic
  • What size and weight considerations do you have? something small and light but not too small . I am buying it for my uncle who is 63 year old. so let us say 13.3 or better 14 inch but light
  • Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? Would prefer HP, Dell or Lenevo . no Asus/Msi
  • Any other considerations? Matte screen is a must. so is bundled windows 7/8/8.1
Ok, so I am buying a windows laptop for my uncle who recently lost his own, Although He wants something small and light, since this is his only laptop he does not want something too small to be used comfortably.
around 1.6- 1.8 kgs is the main target along with decent quality screen (anti glare) and decent processing chops.

1) Should be fast and smooth OOB
2) Matte screen preferable, quality of screen should be a priority
3)screen resolution should not be too high, makes icons really small.
4)Backlit keyboard will be awesome.
5) good trackpad, speakers.
7) atleast 2 usb ports

I managed to find a few hp options. Most enevo options are flex/yoga which he wont be using as such. The older excellent u300/u400 series it seems have been removed by lenevo. Dell has also stopped inspiron 14z.

One more point is that I will prefer to get the notebook locally even if there is price difference.
The hp business series are generally available only online or though company, and not in brick/mortar shops.

Thanks in advance.

regards,
aka.

For the stated purpose, You may also consider the Surface Pro. HP Omni, Nexus 9 etc. Couple with a bluetooth keyboard you have a decent set-up.
