^thats the same as vista, i guess..

Im getting the next build wen it leaks..:)

Next build should most probably the beta, which is expected to be the public beta.
I simply did not understand MS's logic in giving away a build for beta testing which has been superceded with a build which makes major changes in the UI! They should have offered the latest build with the SuperBar and all the latest changes completed so that they could get the best feedback from this pre-beta testing.

Well, one thing was that the build they gave has been tested for some time within MS - back then, the UI was not integrated.

Besides, the target of this release is developers, not end users. Pre beta testing is not for end user feedback (that is what beta is for according to most software engineering processes).

Well, but had they waited for some time more or worked faster to integrate the new UI in the build, that would have given developers a better deal. It has been reported that the new UI will let the developers take more help of the explorer in making things easier for the user by eliminating multiple icons from the task bar, jumplists, progress bar embedded in the superbar etc. All these are features which should have been provided to the developers to let them test their products for longer.

You have to make a cut somewhere. Nothing is being released this time without incredibly thorough testing. And how could they have waited more? One of the problems with Vista's release was that communication with OEMs was far too late in the cycle. They've tried to avoid that this time - give out a stable build, and do so very early in the cycle.

Anyway, the UI stuff has always been the last thing to be finalized. And with good reason too - suppose they moved in some new features late, or removed some other features at the last moment? The UI might need to change as a result.

The people complaining about not having the new UI, are for the most part, fans who wish they could use it!!:P I understand that sentiment - I use it and it is great. Especially as you learn to structure your navigation around it.

Anyway, I'm not commenting anymore in this thread.
