Linux Linux distro to load from USB

Can anyone suggest me any linux distro (preferably light weight) that i can load directly from a USB pen drive. I do not have any optical drive in my netbook so live CD is out of question.
Also if possible please direct me to download page / link from where i can download it.
I am maha noob when it comes to Linux :noob:
I should be able to connect other external drives to my netbook along with the primary USB pen drive from which the Linux must be running.
I intend to remove few unwanted folders from that external drive using the Linux.

why do you [strike]need[/strike] prefer "lightweigth" distro? does your netbook not have about 1gb ram? should do fine for pretty much any modern full-featured distro (GNOME or KDE based) these days :D

if ubuntu is problematic, note that fedora has a windows based "live-usb-creator" program which you can run to create fedora on a USB key from a downloaded latest live ISO - non destructive meaning your other files will remain there (but make sure you have backups just in case).

just remember to select the "persistent" option with some storage capacity so that the "live cd" remembers your files/settings across reboots.

^^ As i told i am Noob with linux so you saying fedora etc, all goes bouncer to me :ashamed:

I do have 1GB of RAM but i do not intend to use the Linux as my OS and this is just for one time use to connect my external drives and remove some folders.

oh, ok then grab ubuntu iso and go ahead with link above or doing googling to find out how to go about it. if still face problems ask :D

^^ Yeah Ubuntu ISO is now being downloaded at full speed and also i have downloaded that app to transfer the iso to USB and make it run from there. Will try all this and let you guys know if i face any issues.

you can also use ultraiso to write iso to usb.

alternative method is via vmware.

-use ubuntu iso as optical drive in vmware..

-boot into live..

-Use System>Administrator>USB Starter Disk Creator under the Gnome Panel

This will Convert the USB drive to a bootable Ubuntu installer/Live distro.

Provided the USB drive has enough room
