Never ever install DH texas holdem poker...
damn...addictive

i always say to myself ...just another hand ..and end up wasting hours

Please help in selecting a good app.

1. Antivirus
2. Task killer which can check apps who are using how much CPU and data in background and we can kill it
3. One chat client for Yahoo, gtalk and facebook
4. Best browser among Opera, Chrome or default browser
5. Office application
6. Battery monitor
7. Data usage monitor

@irfanlai - I find Lookout to be a pretty good antivirus app.
Battery monitor and data usage monitor are pretty standard in phones right OOB nowadays. But if you still need an app try 3g watchdog for data monitoring.
And for battery monitor there are tons of widgets available....for instance Circle Battery Widget

Gravity screen.. Damn useful
Does it actually work as described? How practical is it?

Thinking of backing up all my pics on cloud. I am using dropbox which gives 2GB free storage which is almost full. The total pics I have must be around 10GB. The paid storage of dropbox feels too costly (Rs599/month). How do you manage this? Google Drive? What are the other alternatives?

Yes it is..
I don't remember the last time I used the power button to lock..

Was a bit inconvenient in previous releases ss it used to get locked while playing games..
But now the premium version has a blacklist apps feature

Extremely useful. The paid version has the apps exclusion list as @v.Na5h has said. You can pause the app during movies, maps, etc. However, the battery will take some hit (8-10%) due to this.

GDrive will give you 15+ GB for your storage. And if your requirement is only photos then use Flickr, which offers 1 TB space.

Google drive seems to be the best bet looking at my current storage needs. I don't have that much bandwidth to use that much space. If my requirements increase, then I'll look into the paid subscription of Google drive. Thanks for the reco guys. My needs seem to be covered for now.
