Re: The *Request* Thread

Can we have a complete ban on politics and any talks relating to any religion- even in general? Some people will say any crap they want and term it as "Freedom of speech" and some will say something on a public forum that they believe in for they are an atheist but it does hurt other people's sentiments.

I disagree... General talk is for rants and people can rant about anything under the sun unless it's not illegal (like say talking about beheading someone or abusing someone).

Different people have different opinion and in a public place everyone would like to speak his mind. I remember one of my thread about jokes on religion was removed after someone specifically reported it. For god's sake those were just some jokes! And they included every religion. There is no malice on my part. Every culture across the world, every society has jokes on religion (including Muslim society). Even atheists make fun of their lack of faith. but it was the first time I saw that someone was hurt by such a trivial matter. And honestly, I put a spoiler saying that anyone whose sensibilities can hurt should not read those jokes. Yet the person in question went on not only to read the jokes but he also found them *hurting*

As people would like to believe - given that I wear my atheist credentials on my sleeve - I am NOT disrespectful to anyone who believe in religion or anyone's religion. I understand that people need to have faith. I understand how it can help people and how it can be your source of strength. I see it all around me. But I also understand some people don't need faith and I also see how it can be a cause of misery and suffering.

Banning something is NOT an answer. Banning something means acknowledging something. Ignoring is a better idea. After all nobody is forcing you into the threads that can hurt your sensibilities. It's not that people are shouting their opinions in loudspeakers and the voice will reach your ears. Just don't read the comments. Just don't enter the threads. For example, I I don't find P2P or Open Source threads interesting. But I don't seek a ban on them. I just ignore them.

Re: The *Request* Thread

Request: Make 2 sections in the market - one for Sellers and one for Buyers .. these days we are seeing more WTB posts than FS posts, and its becoming difficult to track topics.

Re: The *Request* Thread

request: can we be automatically subscribed to threads to which we make post(s)...? in that way one can keep track of replies to one's posts from subscriptions folder in user CP... this feature is there in the other forum... can we have it too?

Re: The *Request* Thread

Y not add a feature like automerge posts that has been posted by a user within some time limit and before another makes one.

It wud ease ppl from editting previous posts for any additions to original.

Many forums(vbulletine included) have this feature of disabling the "point" system for individual users(where someone give points to useful/whatever posts.I HATE IT!Please consider this feeling ).Please implement this.I really need to disable the point system for ME.
Thanks.

Is there any updates?can I disable forum reputation system for *ME* ?I hate that!

Re: The *Request* Thread

Requesting to separate the Hot deals & Direct order from dealers from the Actual market threads.

There is a lot of free space below the Left side column which shows the buy/sale deals.

This way, we will be able to easily diffrentiate the threads that are actually created for 1 time sale or for multiple orders. :)

Re: The *Request* Thread

Requesting to modify the iTrader rating system. It's coding should be such that it should be a 2-way affair i.e. Person A's feedback should be visible only when Person B reps him back to avoid disappointment on either's part.

Re: The *Request* Thread

How about a seperate HTPC section? since HTPCs are getting really popular and there are a lot of different things that go into it, like hardware selection, software selection and configurations, TV tuner selection and confgiurations, encoders / decoders / placeshifting / timeshifting settings.

now what is happening is that everything is seperated in all different sections.

Re: The *Request* Thread

Can we have "TE Trends" like google trends.

# It may help dealers to check what most users are looking for and can come up with related deals.

# One to check what most users are searching for

Re: The *Request* Thread

Where do I post my software related problems, there's no section for that. for example problems with MS word, Excel or Photoshop, Flash. There should be a section called software troubleshooting. Please add such a section

Re: The *Request* Thread

How about creating links of threads of the guide & tutorial section to appropriate sections ?

Like the sticky, there can be another symbol which will denote it as a tutorial.

Alternatively, the tutorial section could be split into a tutorial sub-forum for every section. Thus we can prevent unnecessary/irrelevant query threads. :)

Re: The *Request* Thread

Can we have a demarkation between the last of the sticky threads and the first of the regular threads in each section? Some kind of a border or something will do.

Re: List of things to do

Couple of things about stickies as I think they are ignored mostly by the newbies.

1. The highlighting color could be changed to a different one ( possibly different from the theme color )

2. Using two types of highlighting color alternatively for consequent sticky threads.

3. To make the order of the stickies thread static unlike the normal thread where order is determined by last post date/time.

4. Making the fonts of the sticky titles bold always.

Another thing:

Is it possible to add the creation time&date right to the name of the creator of the thread ?
