i shifted to trance in a big way sometime this year.. until then gnr and u2 ruled the roost for me.. along with rob zombie :)
 
My Favorites :the best ones first.. :)
1. Rammstein (German and in your face !! )
2. Dream theater (Most talented guys around..)
3. Coldplay ( Gem of a voice)
4. Pink Floyd ( Need i say anything?? )
5. Muse ( one of the best brit bands..)
6. Hoobastank ( Can't say they are the best but i like their stuff)
7. Disturbed ( wierdo..)
8. Audioslave (2 gr8 bands RATM & Soundgarden rolled into one! )
9. System of a down (crazy stuff)
10. Evanescence (Gothic and dark..)

Got tired of listening to Metallica,megadeth,ironM,nirvana,deep purple and GNR..:no:
 
Heh i wonder how I missed out Lynrd Skynrd. Pretty amazing stuff. BTW Cayotee if you feel Evanescence is gothic and dark, you havent heard real goth rock/metal ;). Check out Tristania or The Gathering.
 
^^ i have a collection of the gathering, tristania,theater of tragedy,my dying bride, poisonblack, type o negative and they are one of the better gothic doom bands but i chose Evanescence because i love Amy lee's haunting voice and yesterday i was listening to 'haunted' just when i posted my fav 10..hehe ;)

Moreover its really hard to choose just 10 out of so many of our favorites!! :)

Linkin Park -- the most 'POP'ular rock band out thr
Green Day -- one word....PUNK

system of a down -- armenia rocks!!
disturbed -- good stuff
sepultura -- now ill settle for soulfly
K0rn -- classic 'modern rock'
godsmack -- good ol' fashion head baggin music
cradle of filth -- GOTH metal at its finest
Slipknot -- 9 dudes with masks on......worth a watch!!

i dont thnk green day is tht bad
for their genre of music..i thnk they do pretty good
also.i really dont get it y everyone is so against modern rock bands
i mean cmon, isntt it rock music
just coz its made more commercially viable
i really dont thnk its justified to deny tha fact tht many new age rock bands do mk good music

green day seems to be the modern goo goo dolls as far as the way their music is progressing.
 
Modern rock bands suck... if banging without reason can be thought of as music, then what they dish out can be considered music :P. The abuse of power chords is taking new dimensions. Ofcourse Sepultura doesnt fall in that category, they are pretty good. A few songs of godsmack are okay as well. But IMHO, the rest suck!

Sepultura were good uptil Chaos :D AD album . after that , they went south really bad :(

modern rock bands ... most of em suck .. but there are some good bands like Sevendust , Papa Roach and Audioslave.
 
Audioslave have almost disappeared.... not heard any new song of theirs for a looooong time. Not since their first one... Show me how to live. Loved that!!!

And well, laugh at me, but these are my fav bands....

Papa Roach, MEtallica, IronMaiden, KillSwitch engage(havent heard much but I absolutely love the song "End of heartache"), Linkin Park too(occassionally..).

The main thing is I dont listen to whole albums. I rarely like a complete album of ANY artist. So, difficult for me to name single rock bands.
