Hello!

a friend of mine who dabbles in share-trading has put forth a request to me. he wants me to search for a software (preferably 'free'), that can help him to view candlestick charts LIVE for trading in NSE/BSE. i don't have knowledge in this regard, and seek advice from fellow-members. could someone pls provide a pointer for this?

thanks!

P.S. - to give you an idea, something like this:

http://www.chartnexus.com/software/software_cnx_download3.php?system=1#disp

Charts Nexus can do that but it won't show the live feed It will show the end of the day feeds . AFAIK live feed is not free.

Edit: didn't realized you already aware of Chart Nexus

thanks! but never mind. even a paid one will do. do you have knowledge of any paid service for that?

This is a bit like asking, my friend knows how to drive a car, he would like to get one free , any ideas?

If this is how your friend is going to trade, my sincere advice to him is to stop RIGHT NOW and save his money.

From the Question being posed here, it is obvious, the real question is something else and not what you are asking. Maybe if you come up with the real question you will get a better answer.

Anyone who knows even a little bit of TA would not ask such a noob question, and if he does not know TA better to learn about trading first then to make stupid dumb a$$ mistakes which will prove costly in the financial world.

TheIndian, why don't you mention some good TA sources for him instead of judging his skills in the financial space?
Since you like metaphors, its like a hungry person who wants to fish, and you are mocking him for wanting to get a fishing rod.

hehe. gentleman, am sorry that you expect more & am not up to the mark. 'real' question would be like...? perhaps you are asking for more details on the query; am just doing what i was requested to, neither going under nor beyond the purview of the question, & definitely not circumventing it, with my near-to-nil knowledge in this subject hindering me to even meaningfully decipher objective/purpose of the wringer beyond what's stated, & the essence of the ensuing discussion. if need be, i'll ask him to provide me with more details on his requirement & purpose, which i could then furnish here. so you see, am just acting as a 'human transmitter' here ;)

my friend's a mariner , and he 'plays' in this trading and all whenever he's on shore-leave. so he's not into it full-time, meaning not as an occupation. some times he loses, at times he wins. he keeps telling me about his trading-experiences & nuances, but it mostly goes over my head. i believe some tips provided by members here pertinent to the subject, could prove prove handy/beneficial to him.

For the simple reason that I have seen 100's of people get burnt and loose a lot of money. Its more akin to gambling rather than fishing, so the appropriate metaphor would be, he is looking for some free Dice not a fishing rod.

@Kilroyquasar Since he is a mariner, I would advice him to use his boring sea days to read up on the subject of TA, and as for free data, more than half a dozen of the online brokers have a charting system built into the platform, he does not really have to do anything. If he was really trading, he would be aware of this as the broker marketing guys never run out of breath highlighting this point. Risk management is what he should be focusing on.

thanks! will let him know (he told me that recently he gained 16.5k in 'future & options' since 30th Jan, 2013, with 12.5k of that in currency alone, adding that he never puts money for strength if the dollar, but for the strength of Indian rupee against it. see if this gives you any idea on what he's into.)
