Locked Domains

Isnt there a law against locking of domains by the registering companies even after the period is over. This is making all the good domains that we need being locked because some random person has registered it for fun with some jack*** company. . Cant we do anything??

i did that once for my Godaddy domain... It was a long time ago

I don't get it.

Most of the registrars even give an option for renewal which also comes with a Email notifier weeks in advance.

Did you try contacting the support team of the registrar and raise an issue ??

I fear someone snatched your expiring domain by back-ordering it I guess. Did you forget to renew the domain and left it in expiry ?

yes , also the companies not releasing the domains to public even after they have been deleted from the ICANN database.
