Logitech has once again done what it does best, namely create a new peripheral, in this case a gaming mouse that should arrive in stores starting next month, September 2011.

The thing about the peripheral market is that it is an area driven by innovation and novelty, even more so than other IT segments, due to the inherent variety of tastes.

Logitech is one of the prime names that one can expect to hear in this field, the outfit having, over the years, invented and marketed many a keyboard, peripheral, gamepad and other such things.

It so happens that the latest move on its part was just today (August 12, 2011) and consisted of a new mouse release.

The press release describes the Gaming Mouse G300, which uses a 2,500 DPI optical sensor, and onboard memory, for storing game profiles and running them without special software.

The peripheral maker also threw in the benefit of user-configurable lighting (each profile gets one of the seven colors).

“The Logitech Gaming Mouse G300 is perfect for PC gamers who want intelligent features that give them real benefits in-game” said Chris Pate, senior product marketing manager for gaming at Logitech.

“Whether you need more programmable buttons for your MMO, better precision for targeting enemies in an FPS, or a compact, comfortable shape to get you through hours of gameplay, we’ve got it covered.”

The mouse is thus shaped to be ambidextrous and has a sculpted shape which enhances comfort. It should make a great pair with G-Series keyboards and headsets.

Unfortunately, even though this was, for all intents and purposes, the official launch, availability is not bound to be reached for a while yet. In fact, sales will only start next month (September 2011), so hopefuls can take the time to amass the required $39.99.
