Hi all...

I was all set to buy n82 ans when to the shop and the guy handed to me a demo set.
and the first thing i felt was. this for 20k??...no way. and the keypad.no.it reminded me of my casio data bank watch i had in my school 10 years ago...

I was stumped. then i told the shop guy my needs

1. Good Media player
2. Web browsing, Emails, IM
3. 3rd party App support preferred.
4. A OK cam. anything above 2 MP.

and he showed me just one phone samsung i710.

it have

1. Wmp
2. Win Mo 5.so Hell yeah
3. Win Mo..i think not good as symbian but some is there.
4. 2 MP. i have.

And the screen was brilliant. the most needed thing. so i bough it. 12.4 even though its a year old model.released in feb 2007.

and some things i came to know in that shop.

1. For the first time I made a wise purchase.after many..many...expensive and unneeded stuff..hehhehe...

2. SE is not in demand for last 3 or 4 months in TVM much. the shop folks are saying no new attractive designs are pulling them there..and the only phones sold are walkman series.

3. N96 for 34k..epic fail...i used it..it sucks for 34k.. nice going nokia

4. INNOV8 a great fone...but for 35k..no way..i decided that after a year this will be my purchase.

5. My impressions about the phone.these are the factors that matter to me...

1. Quality (9/10)

Good enuff. no loose ends. would have appreciated if the cable/Headphone connector didnt have a cover.

2. Camera (6/10)

AS a phone cam it does what it supposed to be. some candid shots. and some nice vids if u get lucky..hehehhe..but as a semi-pro shooter...the cam qlty is not much to write..its a a ok. the thing i needed

3. Music (5/10)

It gets the job done. avoid boredom. its wmp and the cans sucks. and a semi-audiophile who spends lots of money on sound cards..spks...players..cans.. this is a fail...

4. User interface.. (8/10)

Its a win MO. enuff said.

5. Bling factor (10/10)

Touch screen.good looking.nice design..flaunt values are nice. a chick who sat with me near bus today asked.if its a iphone.lolz. but hey i got to know here..hehehe.. brownie for me.
For 12.4k+ 400 for a 2 gb card (Max suported ) ... This is a win for me. and i saved lot of money. yea baby yea.

nice toy there , congrats.....and u did save a lot of $ there :) so congrats to that too....that things has a decent '416 MHz' proccey inside it , so I guess it wont be slow and sluggest...but then it has 64MB of RAM in it.....maybe u can post a small review on the same after a few days of usuage...and secondly...another thing i would like u to check and post back upon would be if the phone heats up during usuage....i've heard abt these samsungs heating a lot....even the Omnia that i did a hand-on abt did heat a bit on usuage......
 
well.. i am using it from last night...only during the charging did it gets heated..that my nokia..moto also does that....

but i need some apps for my win mo... what are the goods and bad for win mo...
 
Congrats on your purchase! There are a few gems like these, but we just overlook them for the more popular models

apart from looks that jerin likes(honestly, looking @ online pics, i dont) there is no feature that a geek would be proud to carry in his pocket hence no1 mentions them around here.

But its all about buyers satisfaction, even after spending a fortune, I sometime regret, so satisfaction is what matters.

You should have considered N78 for these needs.

Dude, WMP !!!?? And you stated in your needs that you wanted a Good Media Player? By your own rating, you gave WMP a 5 on 10? What a compromise man..
Win Mo 5!! It sucked, not that the latest one, which is 6.1, is good as a multimedia OS, but if you bought the phone going GaGa over WinMo 5... :no:
2MP! It was the standard during the 2006 times! You bought a phone during the later stages of 2008, you should have atleast bought something which could hold its own today, so that it will be able to still stand in the coming months! Buying something ,with a view at the future, which was in vouge in the past, sad choice.
And here is how your phone stands with respect to the latest features and standards -

OS - 2 versions old. WinMo 5 was followed by WinMo 6 and then WinMo 6.1

Screen - 65K effective colorscreen (although it is a 256K screen)

GPRS - Class 10

Wifi - NO

3G - NO

USB - 1.1, No 2.0

Where did you find its price as 35K? The dealer said so? Coz as far as i know, it has retailed for around 45K, dont know the current price though.

2MP cam is ok for even a SemiPro shooter? As i wrote above, you should have atleast gone with something which is the standard today, 3.2MP, to be able to be still good in 2009.

You wanted a good media player, you were happy about there being WMP in WinMo, and still you feel that a 5/10 was a good buy?

Go and get some 3rd party media player for WinMo.

Sorry bro, i would have not bought a mobile instead of buying this one. Might suit your choices, but buying an old horse for future races, would have been a bad choice for me.
 
@hotshot... the guy near me asked to the sales boy and he replied 35k....even i was suprised...thght it was for 43k...

1. I rated this by my usage. so the ratings are correct

2. N78 .... u seen the screen??..those functions on that screen...no thnx.. this one have a nice 2.8" touch screen..clearly any day above n78...:) ..

3. i needed a good medai player.. but i didnt get any..isnt that obvious???:S ... i use creatives and zunes as pmp's for music..not a phone... i use phone music on my commute from office to home..which is a 20 minute ride.. thats all.. for that..this is a 10/10...:rofl:

4. its my first win mo.... so even a 4.0 would have made me go gagagu over it...dont u think.... i only used nokia's symbian.. motos..and SE'e before... so this is a pretty much nice.. but 6.1 is damn awesome...:ashamed:

5. I own a d40...and a casio exilim camera..so if a photo shoot is there and expected..i always take one of these depending on situation and my load.. i only use cam phones to click some unexpected shots... like a accident..a nice scenery that i like to see..or a surprise moment..beyond that no thanks sir.. i wanted a mobile phone...not a camera....:hap5:

but yeah wifi would have been a welcome..but no need of 3g dear...actually 65k screen has made me decide not to go for win mo..but this one made me... i dont see movies or much pic viewing on phones so i am cool...:hap2:
I only use phones for a year..so whatever maybe..i am pretty darn happy with this buy..even given a second chance i would have bought this...not the n82... hehhehe ...i pay with my money so the money saved is money in bank..

...and what more.... 3 of my colleagues are getting this exact model this week...they called the shop...they will pick it this wed...

you should think it like this.. this phone serves 100% for what i intend for this phone..i need a phone in which i will use all the features..i dont need a phone which has lots of features i may use or is cutting edge..just a phone which i need....in that..dont u think this is good enuff???
 
A HTC P3400i @8.9K would be wiser choice.

Pros:

WM 6, A2DP, 4GB memory card and lastly but not least support from XDA-developers for newer versions of ROMs.
