Long-term feedback on CISS Kits for Inkjet printers. Is the hassle worth it?

Hi folks,
I'm looking to experiment with setting up a CISS kit on a cheap inkjet AIO printer. I'm very comfortable with DIY and modding.
My usage will be bi-weekly and I'm not too keen on image quality. Basic B/W printing with scanning would suffice. I would need inputs on the following things

1. How do the CISS kits fare long term (2 yrs min) on bi-weekly usage?
2. Could you please recommend AIO printers that have very good compatibility with the CISS kits?. I will be sourcing these from the used market.

I'm looking at a total cost of 3K for setting it up. Breakdown - 1.5K (Used Inkjet AIO) + 1K (Good CISS Kit) + 0.5K (Ink)
Alternatively, I've seen used ink-tank printers for sale in the 5.5K to 7.5K range, should I consider these instead?

Ink tank printer for sure.
I used a CISS system with my old Epson and it wasn't worth it.

The Epson ink tank printers will last, and especially if you're using them weekly.
I only have issues with ink drying out if not used for 2-3 weeks, but a 'clean' fixes that.
Prints are quite sharp and vivid with the Epson ink and photographs are reasonably good.
