Let me know what you think .........

i am not buying it for me.
for my company.

so it must be from any damn company.

so can you advice me some other system.

bye the way how is system ?
forge the price............

Most stuff on the list is way overpriced. If you need 2G of ram, get Crucial Ballistix PC4000(unless that system needs registered RAM). Also change the PSU to OCZ/Antec/Enermax etc.

hey dude,

i told you it must be branded PC.

after lot of efforts now they are agree to take system what i will decide.
always they use to buy crap Dell sytem.

so tell me any other company which allows us to customize and good pricing also.

i want physically 2 processors then dual core processor.

tell me something else.

thanks for help anyway.

i want 2 processor and preferebly Xeon.
reliable one in corporate environment.

i heave dont lot of search for this and then finally decided the above config.

still advice better than that.

You have to decide what is the application. Video editing is too vast a topic.
Is it Non-Linear editing or Compositing or both? Is there going to be 3D?
What is the standard size of your edits. are you going to dump to beta? or is it going to use High compression codecs like Windows Media or Mpeg4.
Primary applications? Combustion and after effects or Premier Pro?
Though these are mainly compositing, Maybe if its a direct Edit just move to FCP :) on Dual G5

If its going to be AE and you mostly would run on Win 64 then you would be looking at a Quadro or FireGL, and RadeonX800 would be of no use.

Many questions.
One shoe does not fit all. For 4000 USD you can get a Good dual Opteron in Bombay.
I have seen a dual opteron 248 beat a Dell Dimension 760 with Dual Xeon at 2.8G by around 10% margin. If you move to 252, you should have still better performance. Ofcourse it has been tweaked to be a renderBOX.
Decide, its going to be a workstation or a render BOX? and then decide the config.

Your choice of card isn't right at all considering the usage.
Dump the ATI card and instead buy Matrox RT.X100 or some other NLE solution like the Pinnacle liquid edition.
You can get nice bundle deals in them. You may also consider the ever so costly Avid range of products.
Check out videoguys.com for some more info.
Get more storage, 160 gigs ain't nothing if you're doing some NLE.
And lastly, Don't forget to check for any compatibility issues if you're going to mix and match stuff.

guys,
thx a ton for help.

here are my requirements.

this machine will do video compression work - mpeg4 kinda of things.

it will most probably run winxp 32 bit as of now and may be 64 bit.

no problem of storage coz its gonna be connected to SAN. so i can store data in TB. no issue. this will just work as primary connection to video camera and video compression device.

there are 3 test to be done on this machine.

HD quality video sampling - for video conferencing purpose
DVD quality video sampling - for video conferencing purpose

i am looking for resolutions like 1280 x 1078 at 80 plus frame rate.

the output sometime might need to be connected big LCD panels.

listen price is not issue at all.

i just want to have powerful system for this work.
i dont think my siniors will listen to me to go for AMD.
forget about processor - it must be Xeon.

help me more about graphic.

just for analog conection and having TV tuner i have selected =
All In Wonder - X800 XT. and i think it is good card.
and mainly it wont do any direct video editing work.

there will be dedicated 64 bit Video famegrabber card for the compression kinda of work.
just my board graphic system should be enough powerful to give an indirect support to this all so i am using this card.

advice more if you think for compatibilty.

what compatibility i might face. plz describe in more details.

very nice indeed.

I remember seeing a monster system from Lenovo (before it bought IBMs PC business). I just cant find the darn link anywhere now.

What i do remember was that it has 2GB of DDR400 and 1TB of HDD space. It also had liquid cooling for the cab and could support upto three continous display units. Can anyone find it?

i think you'd do well to chk ou this linky... seems perfect for u(for decidin the config, not where ur purchasin it)... http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/2005_eternal_battle_day2/

nd this is what they said abt the graphics..
"
It’s interesting that note that the sub-pixel precision of NVIDIA’s platform continues to be superior to ATI even over the last two years. The entire Quadro FX line, including the bottom of the line Quadro FX 330 features 12-bit sub-pixel accuracy. In fact, even the GeForce FX 5200 which most gamers would be ashamed to own features 12-bit sub-pixel accuracy. ATI’s workstation models don’t compete in this feature set.

Their FireGL V3100 has a terrible 4-bit sub-pixel accuracy, the same as the original Rage128, and the newer FireGL V5100 only reaches 8-bit precision. Sub-pixel accuracy is important for placement of polygons and this will make the biggest difference in CAD and 3D DCC applications. 16x FSAA is also a very important feature, more so than traditional gaming because lines rather than textures capture much of the data. "

nd also this.... http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/building_high_definition_home_theater_pc_htpc/

they'r buildin a htpc... nd tht obsly deals with a load of hd video nd stuff...

"Our choice for this assignment is the GeForce 7800 GTX. On the surface, you’d think we chose it because it’s the newest card but in fact we’ve gone with the 7800GTX over any other GPU, not because of bragging rights or even its ability for hardware acceleration of MPEG-2, but because we’re looking for the best hardware PC solution for de-interlacing: PureVideo."

hope tht helps...
