Hey guys,

I am very happy today.

Tata Indicom guys just came and installed my connection.

First impression: The outlook of this organization is much more professional compared to Sify. Atleast the guy who came was very courteous and reached before his designated time. Thats wins a big + from me.

Now to the real meat.... How is the connection?

Nopes.... I have the Infinity 256K plan...... I am loving this. NO MORE SIFY CRAP HERE!

Tata Indicom 256kbps, its 1200+tax pm. I use the same connection, same isp. Its 1:1, 256 up/256 down. Most of the times I get more than that both ways infact.

so is it tat to get the full 256bps, they sync you at a higher rate?? cause i remember reading somewhere abt mtnl doing that in delhi.... hmm.

good speeds though :D

and hows the downtime chaos?

Yup.... thats a 1:1 256K connection both up and down truely unlimited.... starting utilizing it immediately.

And the ROUTER they have given me looks damn powerful (502T) and configurable. Took me 30 secs to do forwarding for the first time in such a interface (i kinda preferred ifconfig :P)

Yea, thats a given in Sify. Bad ass routing.... I get around 100-120ms to sg and that is because VSNL is based in Mumbai and therefore all the traffic flows from here to Mumbai then out. Add to that 25 ms of local gateway latency (I should be able to bring it down If i can change my Path Mode to Fast instead of Interleaved.)

Strangely the cheque they took from me for installation charges etc has not been processed yet.

Well I would have preferred Airtel in Blore also because pings would be best... (since Airtel's gateway is right here) but I have no complains :) :P
 
TATA is uesless POS, atleast in hyderabad..

they bill me weirldy which they themselves have no clue about and when asked howmuch i Shud pay they are like 15th,the last date for paypemt is still a while ahead, we'll be able to let you know about this before it hopefully :P

and pings suck too, 130-160 to sg servers always :P
 
i have the Same Pacakage .... Routers they Give Are Awesome ... Damn Easy to Config as Karan Said ... also In Bangalore Airtel has Very Less Coverage ... Tat Indicom Wins There... they Dont Cap Bandwith ...

i get constant 27 - 34KBps on torrents & 32KBps on Http Downloadin
 
Nice connection you got there Karan...nice to see TATA doing well...last time I tried it here in mumbai it sucked :(
