I had been using a Sony 32-inch LCD since 6 year, and it served us very well, at that time HD channel was not available so i didn't bought a large display :D

But now, since 24+ HD channels are available in Tata Sky, its seems a necessity to upgrade my display, so i am planning to upgrade to 55-inch only due to space constraint.

So was thinking, is Sony 4K LED TV really worth buying as of now ? , will we be able to get 4k res. channels in coming 2-3 years ?? or should i stick to 1080p LED with 3D tech only ??

As of now shortlisted only two, 55X9004A and 55W950A

Not worth going for 4K as of now due to lack of media. Stick to 1080P only, maybe 3D if you fancy; but the novelty will wear out soon.

4k tvs will fall in prices and there is no content yet, unless you have the soon to be launched(not in india)netflix subscription. There is also no physical media for 4k yet.
I think it will take another 2 years before we see it in a disc format and another 6 years before we see any transmission of 4k in india.

But even then a 4k tv will still look better at close viewing distances. For watching still pictures, gaming 4k will be really good.Sony also has 4k mastered blu ray which upscales from 1080p to 4k with the upscaling algorithm shared by Sony pictures studios like (columbia.tri-star etc) and the Sony Electronics,so the 4k tvs, projectors will get the update for each movie.
So if you can afford a 4k tv then go for it bare in mind the 2014 models have already been announced and should hit the indian stores in 2Q..

Bought 55W950A, can anyone suggest some nice pair of 2.1 HT system or soundbar with optical input to pair with the tv :D
