i have now entered into a setup of a demonstration system for patients.

first step taken.

second step involves taking wireless KB and mouse combo so that i can control video presentation from any where in my consulting area.

products i have short listed are
logitech
cordless desktop ex 110
cordless desktop mx 3000
cordless desktop s510

microsoft
wireless optical desktop 1000
wireless optical desktop elite
wireless optical desktop laser 6000

now which one is better?
(my usage is average, mostly application control, occassional casual gaming, main purpose is application control for video recording and demonstration)

requirements
Value for money is the prime criteria as i am not an enthusiast user dont go on suggesting exorbitantly priced ones

is there any advantage of using bluetooth ones over ir ones?

is there any other brands available?
what is the price of above choices and any other options? (links also welcome)

thanks

Well I have the logitech cordless internet pro - all I can say is that it is quite good, but I have never used any of the others. Mouse+kbd combo was 2k.

get the bluetooth coz they have much shoter range ..... and they need not be in the line of sight ....

almost all the ones mentioned by the Doc work on Radio frequency which means the line of sight need not be maintained. Yesterday i 'tested' one wireless desktop at office.. Keyboard worked without any probs even from a distance of about 8ft

RF cordless desktops need not be in the line of sight. That is why RF is so popular.

I should know.... used my k/b and mouse from 5 feet away :P away from the line of sight...

i guess bluetooth is only useful if you want to use the base as a bluetooth hub to connect additional bluetooth devices and added range

but if you dont need the above features save some dough and get a rf set

Well i am using a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Elite for over an year now and its good except for one nagging thing... The batteries drain out fast... Doc if you will look around carefully you can get OEM pack of the same...

Tip on getting the Chordless set is to Subscribe to CHIP/DIGIT... They give away wireless keyboard/mouse sets for free with thier 3 Yr subscription... Think of it this way... You buy the chordless set and you get Mag's free for three years :P...

I got the Logitech Internet Pro combo for 1.9K....The batteries seem to be lasting for long (been only 1.5 month so far though :P )

The RF range is decent and so is the price... :)
