Hi peeps

I am looking to upgrade my current setup and was looking to do it over the next couple of days.I will not be upgrading my ram/gpu as that is being provided by a kind friend. For this purpose i can afford to splurge on the cpu/psu nicely.

THe boards i am looking between abit ip-35pro and asus maximus formula. Though they are about Rs. 5,000 apart from what i have read of the maximus formula... its a little more future ready.

The proc is a foregone choice for me i.e. Intel C2D quad q9450. Though its expensive.... it will last me a while.

would u suggest any other boards for this cpu? i can afford to go upto 16k on the board.

cabinet i forgot to mention will be the cm690 along with a corsair tx650w psu

getting it from lammi lol...

problem is my current pc (not the config in my sig that is hopelessly out of date) has fried itself. i have to rebuild straight away as its affecting my work and a laptop just cant cut it what i have to do on a daily basis

^^i dont know what you mean by the asus board being future ready since the next platform will be on a different socket altogether :)

i say, go for the abit board, and invest elsewhere :P

or if you wanna splurge, go for the abit x38 quad gt :)

if u got the money get one of these boards Link

That is an "upcoming" board. Wont be available if he's gonna buy in 2 days time :P

Funny.. Remember seeing a IC by Funky for the Gigabyte X38 / X48 DQ6 somewhere. Cant find it now though  The Gigabyte is also a good option.

Waiting for P45 is sense, if u cant wait Pro is good, don know really X38 has good real world gains and is worth spending the extra money.

I was a bit drunk when i posted my second msg hence the rambling.

Tentatively am narrowed down the replacement to this

corsair tx650w / Corsair HX620
Abit IX38 Quad GT
Intel core2quad Q9450
Coolermaster 690
Western Digital Caviar GP 1 TB SATA HDD- for starters. need more storage and am not willing to do raid 0 after a failure wiped out 640 gb of mine last time unless i can go in for a full raid 5 setup at a later.
