Budget 90k+ Looking for an 18 inch laptop

Hi guys

I am looking to buy a laptop soon. These are the features I am currently looking for:
1) Intel processors i5 or better (Intel 13th generation raptor lake or 14th generation meteor lake)
2) Atleast 16 GB RAM (DDR5)
3) At least 1TB SSD (SATA or NVIM)
4) Nvidia GPU GeForce RTX GDDR6 8 GB or more (4050, 4060, 4070, etc.)
5) 18 inch display

My budget is flexible but the cheaper the better. I find Lenovo new releases with 14th generation Intel processors (laptops cost a little more than 1 lacs) to be great but I am really looking to a buy a laptop model with an 18 inch display. Lenovo models are not available in 18 inches. I do not know if any Alienware laptop or any other model with 18 inches display comes within 1.5 lacs.

I am not in a hurry and can wait for new releases with 14th generation processors and 18 inches display.

Please suggest a laptop.
Also, please let me know if there's any way to buy the laptop at reduced costs like during some particular sales, at any stores which offer great discounts, any credit card offers, etc.

I am also open to buying a slightly used or second hand laptop.

there's asus strix but they are really expensive

I found these two to be 18 inch:

What do you think about them? Are they overpriced for the given specifications? Are there better alternatives?

Have a look at the Azom website. They have a hefty configuration with a 17.3" inches screen.
You can touch base with them for a consult too regarding your requirements and they can provide you a quotation. I found their tech support to be quite helpful
@axmac from our forum sold his old azom laptop last year. Maybe he can provide your with some guidance.

I used to be a big fan of Azom, and have recommended them to many people over the years (my brother was in talks with them for months and was so close to buying one). But 3 people who've bought it on my recommendation have subsequently faced different issues that Azom didn't get around to addressing. In 2 cases their laptops simply shut off randomly after 4-5months of usage. The other had serious overheating issues (which he ended up servicing himself multiple times, despite being a computer newbie) Their models also changed suddenly and they gave no prior info of that, so they had received older models with outdated chassis. And since 2 of these friends were from the same circle, it looked like the sample size was big enough to say that Azom QC was general quality wasn't good.

When they worked, they were beasts of laptops which you could tinker on your own to a good degree. They were heavy, had poor battery life but were really good machines and they worked well for any intensive work.

At this point their configs are also outdated several years. I don't know if you'll receive newer specs if you get in touch with them though.

Its such a shame because I've always wanted one of their laptops myself. But I don't think they're great suggestions anymore. Hope they've improved and are proving me wrong though.

What is your use case for the laptop? Do you really need to have a portable 18in display? What resolution do you want for the display?
Unless you really, really need a giant portable screen for some reason, I'd say buy a separate monitor and a smaller screen laptop.

I have an office laptop which is around 15 inch. I find that it is much more comfortable for me when I am browsing on my PC with a monitor which is obviously larger in size than my laptop screen size. I want to have the same kind of convenience while browsing laptops also. Mac laptops screens are so small that people often end up buying a separate monitor with it. I am not looking to buy a small screen laptop because in that case, I would have to buy a monitor which defeats the purpose of a laptop. Buying a desktop with a monitor makes much more sense both in terms of performance and costs, isn't it?

I am looking for 18 inch laptop because that's the biggest you concurrently can get in the market.

In short, you do want portability. Which was my primary question. I have no recs for a giant laptop, but good luck with it.

Honestly, personally, I can't stand carrying around anything larger than a 14in. 18 would be an absolutely no go for me. I agree, it is much more comfortable having that screen real estate but it quickly becomes tiresome and unwieldy to carry that.

@sherlock7,

Have you seen a 17" screen? It is too big. 15.6" is good for coding etc. But I have 16:10 aspect ratio so....
No, I have not. This is me first time buying a big screen laptop. All my previous laptops had uncomfortably small screens. Purchasing online, it is hard to estimate the size of the laptop. The shops nearby don't have those expensive laptops and additionally they don't offer any sales or discounts on credit cards.

I am open to buying a 17 inch screen laptop.

Asus India just launched their new laptops models for Strix and Rog with Intel 14th gen core processors and they are not 18 inch either for that much amount of money.

Do you have any recommendations (for 17 inch or near)?
I checked the size of the 18 inch laptop on YouTube. I didn't find anything inconvenient about it. I think it is manageable to carry around.

The thing is large screen laptops are not coming in budget range.

I would agree with the others here suggesting against going for 17-18" inch laptops, but not because of portability and weight issues, but because of how few good options you have in the Indian market. The only 2 options I've seen in action are Asus ROG Strix 17 and MSI Katana 17. I would stay away from the ROG because of the hinge's failure rate- just look up online. My colleagues' hinge was squeaky and rattly as well. The MSI well, nothing much to say other than they have absolutely pathetic build quality.

17"+ laptops are amazing for work, but unfortunately our market doesn't have many takers for it.

If you at some point consider normal laptops, then I'd say 16" 16:10 is a wonderful sweet spot, and can happily recommend Lenovo's Legion 5 Pro models. I have a 15.6" Legion 2022 and 16" Legion Pro 2023, and the 16:10 aspect ratio makes such a huge difference in usable space and user experience. I'd take that over a 16:9 17" any day.

Do you have any recommendations?

This Lenovo laptop has the latest powerful 14th generation Intel Core processor 14700HX with a Nvidia RTX 4060 and sized at 15.6 inches:
What do you think about this model? Do you think this cost worth the laptop specifications and model? Can I get it cheaper during sales?

See JarrodTech on YouTube. afaik omen had some disadvantages compared to legion.

Legion has a good community and price
Which Lenovo laptop do you think provides better value for money:
Both are priced similarly.

Are Legion Pro 5i models available? They have superior hinge design compared to normal Legion 5i and LOQ. Also full metal which still looks new even after a year. The Pro's screen cannot fall flat 180degrees, but it is, way, way stronger. My normal Legion's hinge is not the best, and from the videos available on LOQ and 5i, the hinge seems to be the same.

I'd suggest Pro again if they're available. 13th gen are great if you don't mind dropping a generation (which I did). Or maybe you can wait, if they have a release date. AMD is also available (I have the 5800H one). Don't mind the reviewers on that page.

I was on the same boat 1 year ago . One thing I noticed was that 17inch above laptop are always latest models and super expensive. Don’t look just for screen size do consider atleast 2k or 4k resolution as well . Also would recommend buy these expensive laptops abroad while traveling because they are cheaper and you get international warranty on some brands as well.

Do you have any particular country in mind? What about Thailand? Because it is nearby and I have been thinking about a visit there.
