Hello,
I received a new WD my passport 1TB drive today.
On opening the package,i was inspecting the drive, when i tilted it slowly and noticed something in it had shifted and i could feel the object inside move. Now,from you tube videos, there's just a 2.5" hdd in there, nothing else,no loose parts,no pcb.

Now,the thing inside that is moving moves as one,no piece by piece movement.the movement is slight, and not too much, occasionally i wont notice it either.
I plugged it into my pc,for the first time, and everything seems fine,as of now.
I havent dropped it,shook it ,nothing whatsoever.

Still the thing is just a few hours old from its sealed carton!

So is this really an issue?Am i in trouble?or is this really the same with all WD passports?
Also,do i have to RMA it?
If i do RMA it,will i be getting a brand new drive or some refurbished piece?

Kindly advise
Thanks
Suraj

Try calling support, and ask if this is really an issue. In my opinion, if this is some contact problem, the service engineers will open it and immediately fix this in a couple of minutes. No need to RMA.
