Its a little old news but not posted on TE yet.... The most anticipated title for the BluRay. The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy will be released this year. There were speculations that it will be released in 2009 but nothing was confirmed on the internet. Now that Amazon has begun taking preorders for the Trilogy's Theatrical cut. Its now confirmed by New Line Home Entertainment that it will be indeed released by this holiday season in the US market.

Amazon is booking the preorder @ $69.99 though they have not stated when the actual release date is. The theatrical version will be released first over the hugely popular extended version which is in the pipeline with no concrete information on its availability. But studios are pretty sure the theatrical version will be followed by a full Extended Version.
The movie trilogy grossed more than 1 Billion Dollars in the US alone & is considered to be a highly successful franchise with huge fan following.. The BluRay release is one of the most anticipated release among many titles...

no use. they always do this with lotr. they release regular editions. then after some months they release the EE. its better to wait for those.
 
LOTR has not been released in Hi Def till date be it Blu Ray or HDDVD. The rips u have must be the HDTV rips like SK has said.
