Keep on using the bike as you were.

A colleague of mine had lost his RC book long time back. Used the car without the RC book as suggested by @TheIndian.
Now he wants to sell the car for which an RC book is absolutely required. An agent told him to make a Police complaint of "Lost RC Book" along with any available documents as proof and use that to get a new one. There were no issues/questions asked by the police.
In your case the original owner will have to do this if/when it is required. You can get the details from any showroom sales guy; just tell them that you need to sell your used bike but don't have the RC book.

I am not sure whether using the bike without an RC book is legal. You may be fined by the traffic police. Just ask some traffic constable when you are not using the bike.

Your case is a bit difficult. Some 10yrs. back I had lost all documents pertaining to my bike. I filed a police FIR and submitted the copy of the FIR at the RTO office. In two weeks they gave me a new RC book, with 'DUPLICATE' stamped at the top. Three years back I sold off the bike to my mechanic who then could successfully transfer the bike to his name using the same duplicate RC book.
In your case things are difficult. You need to trace the owner and convince her to apply for a duplicate RC book. If you can't then you can still drive illegally, but be careful police has the right to seize your vehicle in suspicion. This happened to a friend of mine who ultimately had to forego his moped.(too much legal hassle trying to release the moped from police seizure).

Please "Lost the bike also" , in this way you won't be having any tension regarding it :D

Na rahinga baas na bajega basuri : :D
