I got a new vi sim today and wanted to change the number on whatsapp. I entered both old and new number on the number change screen after which whatsapp automatically tried to verify the number via call log. I mistakenly picked the call, and whatsapp then restarted and initail setup screen was shown to me. I entered my new number, verified it using sms and after it finished initializing the first see i saw was all my chats was gone and i could only see 5 groups that i was a part of. I checked on my mom's phone, there's a notification that i switched my number.
Now how should i recover these whatsapp chats; I have local backup of my previous number but that didn't work probably because of different decrypting keys
