hello friends,

the sound quality is awesome in Mx5021,
but when i play dvds in power dvd..
even if my pc volume is at 90% and the speaker volume is at the 4th blue dot...
still the volume is not dat much satisfactory in sum of the dvds..
y is dat so??
n how can i get the best out of the movie play backs??

yes....certain DVDs have low vol...
either that or go to an ENT specialist :bleh:

Are you playing DVDs or divx? DVDs will have lower volume, as most divx have apply dynamic range compression.

Use AC3 Filter while playing DVD's or Divx files with AC3 Audio it has a Master Audio volume level where you can increase ur audio level.

AC3 Filter is like a addon use it with MPlayer Classic.

^ Yep I use AC3 with my DivX videos and have upped the Master / Gain levels a tad bit. However do note that audio clipping usually takes place when these levels have been increased (although i havent been able to hear them as yet).

The second tab for the AC3 Filter config window has an "Auto Gain Control" which automatically reduces the increase you make in the Master / Gain levels based on the clipping and most of the times it comes back to the original low volume level, so you may want to turn it off if all you want is a higher volume level.

DVD's are inherently *quiet* sounding and that is due to the audio on a DVD having a wide dynamic range of ~110dB - it gives you better sound quality unlike the pathetic mastering you get on Audio CD's these days which have high dynamic range compression.

Edit:

Get AC3 Filter at : AC3Filter official site :: AC3Filter . I use it with WMP. No idea about Media Player classic - it does seem to have an inbuilt volume boost.

*!@#$%* thats for AD1 and he knows the reason well :@ :@ :@

Sumeet actually here too sound from DVD's seems pretty low, you can try what Eddy said else get a good soundcard if u want some better reproduction.
cuz afaik mx5021 requires least a soundcard a creative sblive :)

Yes the volume of DVDs is low. So low that I had to watch them wearing headphones when I had my 5 year old 480W pmpo speakers.

The klite package installs the volume boost plugin/codec. But that doesnt help much.

arre ppl,use MPC and in the audio config, set the volume boost or try VLC
