Graphic Cards Lower cpu with Higher Graphic Card

Here is a review of 1900XTX/XT and 1800XT with Amd 64bit 3800. Even if you have a Amd 3000/3800 class cpu at most subtract 10% from the fps.

If you overclock your amd cpu to 2.4ghz, then it becomes 3800. So 3800 isn't a very high cpu.

But the benchmarks are quite promising.

Connect3D Radeon X1900 XT/XTX Series

I was talking at stock speeds, with overclock you can play anything for then the bottleneck is the graphic card.

Switch plays most wanted at 1600*1200 MAX AA AF

Main thing is FPS drops in a CPU Intensive game, yuor gonna be pissed with CSS FPS dropping to like 30 - 40, in firefights. Even at 2.6 Ghz, you will get considerable drops.

For CPU intensive D3D games ... u can set the no. of frames to render ahead to 0 ... that should take some load off from the renderers ...... and though the avg. fps may decrease by 2-3 .. the gameplay will be absolutely smooth ... and with the X1900XTX performance would be awesome anyway ... but if a guy can run a 7950GX2 with a 3700+ ,, then why can u run a X1900XTX with a 3000+ ...

3700:7950GX 2 and 3000:1900xtx is not exactly the same thing, also was the 3700 on stock.

I would say 3200-3500:1900xtx/3700-3800:7950GX2, isn't 7950GX 2 on avg about 20% faster?

My rig consist of

-ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobo
-nVIDIA n2Force Chipset
-Athlon XP 2400+, 2GHz
-256X2 DDR RAM, 400MHz
-Seagate Barracuda 40GB 7200, IDE
-Samsung 40GB 7200, IDE
-Lite-On SHW-1635S DVD-RW
-Lite-On XJ-HD166S DRV ROM
-Creative Audigy2
-Philips 107ES CRT
-Powersafe 400W SMPS with 2 fans, 17A on the +12V rail
-Vantec Stealth Case Fans 80mm (Front & Rear)

Just got an eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP 8X to replace my old GeCube ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB AGP 8X card. Also replaced the PowerSafe 400W psu (17A on +12V) with an Antec SP Ver 2.0 350W psu (25A in the +12V dual rail).

The eVGA online expert has recommended Antec TP II 480W psu giving 18A in both +12V1 & +12V2 rails respectively. He has also said you cannot add the amperes given by the individual dual rails in the Antec SP Ver 2.0 350W psu (10A in +12V1 & 15Ain the +12V2 rails respectively). However, the pc is stable now with this 350W psu, even though I could not plug in a single power 4pin molex into the graphic card as recommended, as I have two IDE HDD (not SATA) & two optical drives. I have plugged in the second y power cable with three 4pin molex to my two hdds & the card. The other y cable with two 4pin molex & a 4pin floppy molex has gone into the two optical drices & the floppy drive.

Your comments are welcome, as you using the same psu with a 6800 card.

I think the psu should be fine, check here

but to play todays games that system isn't enough. new games will struggle even at 800*600 lowest/low to med
