Definitely the 640
Pros of 640:
+ Better S400 chipset with better GPU
+ Much better HD screen with Clear black display technoloty
+ Better rear camera
+ Better video recording
+ Much bigger battery
Pros of 535:
+ Better selfie camera
+ 25%-30% cheaper
If you have the budget then the 640. Even the Lumia 730 is in that budget range ~12kish and with cashback at times you can get it cheaper than the 640. I would choose lumia 730 if you have the budget of around ~12k. (~10.8k from SD considering the 10% yesbank cashback - if you have a Yes bank account)
Pros of 730 over 640
+ AMOLED screen, Higher PPI
+ Better Carl Zeiss rear camera
+ Better selfie camera

Microsoft 640 is a marvelous phone in this price range. Extremely light weight .Tremendous camera with a host of features selfie cam is 0.9 MP , so don't go on its number it is too good. Battery is performing very good. Extremely smooth and hassle free working, no resume screens anywhere. Lovely glossy finish. Very rich display.
