I am looking for a tubular battery for my invertor. My old Sukam invertor is almost dead after 3 years of usage. I am hoping one of Exide or Luminous will last me 5 years at least. Please suggest a model from these two. Are there any maintenance tips that I should follow to achieve long battery life.

I just bought an Amaron tall tubular battery for my Sukam inverter a few days back ...800va Must be the same model. Apparently my inverter is now working fine as compared to before. Maybe these 800va inverters need bigger batteries. I have no idea about Luminous batteries. I thought they only sold inverters. Btw, if your inverter is almost dead then maybe its a problem in your inverter not your battery.

Maintenance tips are simple. Top up your battery water with proper inverter water once a month. At least check it every month. Don't let the plates go dry. That will kill your battery sooner than its actual lifetime.[DOUBLEPOST=1403983302][/DOUBLEPOST]My previous Exide lasted me around 5 years. I didn;t buy it this time coz the one I was looking for was too expensive. I mean around 17k after rebate. Whereas ibought the amaron from batterywale.com for around 14.5k and after rebate all I paid was 11.8k. Plus it got shipped by an amaron dealer in my town. I had no idea there was an amaron dealer in my town before this.

Never heard of Luminous batteries. Exide is the market leader & they charge a premium. Amaron (Amar Raja) wants market share - they are quite good (I use one in my car). SF, Panasonic, AMCO are also good. Tata is also selling quite aggresively.

Whatever the battery make, check regularly as suggested above and top up the water. You can get it in any petrol bunk (distilled water).
