magnetic USB cable, any idea?

Picked this one up on impulse some time back. It takes quite a bit of pressure to push into the usb port. Once in it should work.

Can't use it with a case. Once its in you need a special tool provided to remove it. So if you're away form your charger you're not going to be able to charge until you get back.

its slightly slower than regular charging but convenient.

there is a special tool to remove the connector, it is sold out on Amazon, and I found some nonbranded one and cheaper, http://www.tinydeal.com/magnetic-1m-micro-usb-cable-synccharge-cable-for-samsung-p-156704.html

Tempting!!! Another viable option for this is usb docking cable its magnetic too but unless your mobile has docking points.

One i suggested does not need docking points, it will work with any device that has micro usb. Even quick charge works. Though not as quick as wired its still faster than qi charging. This is for people that dont want to deal with non-reversible usb 2.

The downside is can't use cases.

To create a dock requires a stand to insert the charging bit then you just drop the phone on it.

It does come with a special tool but if you need to charge and don't have the tool then you're stuck. So you have to carry the cable with you.

Noticed in your link there is the option to get a 2mm longer connector to use with a case. I did not have that option.

Does not prevent tangling, its just convenience. you don't have to carefully insert and remove the plug. This is a problem for some people. And possibly protection as the usb port is fully covered.

its one of those interesting add-ons rather than essential.

Unless you have a port like the one on the iPhone, won't you still have to be careful when inserting the end into your phone as a normal micro-USB connector end is still different on both sides. Case being the same charger is inserted differently in my OPO and my Lumia.

You insert the attachment just once, the correct way. It stays in there.

The charging cable has a strong magnet which you can attach either way.

On my android devices screen faces up, usb logo on the charging cable faces up. proceed.

On some cables there are even 3 dots on one side that you can feel for so you know which side faces up.

You're saying the orientation is different on windows phones compared to androids ? thats curious thought they all went in screen up and logo up.[DOUBLEPOST=1454265432][/DOUBLEPOST]
I really do not get the point of this cables.
Its a way to have reversible charging connection with microusb. The downside is you have to use the magnetic charging cable each time to charge the device. But that is also the advantage as you dont care which orientation it inserts unlike microusb.

My bad. I didn't go through the links before posting. I thought this was similar to how the Macbook charger connects to the laptop but this is something totally different.
Will the magnetic forces have any adverse effect on the phone hardware. Also why aren't you able to use cases considering the charging port is usually not covered by a normal case.

Edit - Even in Android phones, micro USB end gets inserted differently in different phones. Case being my OPO and my Galaxy Nexus.

The inspiration comes from a macbook from 2006 i think. Then apple stopped it, i heard.

don't think so.

Because the magnetic charger encloses the stub and takes more space than a case allows.

if you notice one of the links posted above has a slightly longer shaft so the stub now covers the case. The charger than fits over it. Only problem i have with the link is the price, seems rather cheap and must be a knock off.

Which one is the odd one out though ?
