blr_p: ...but if this moronic bill passes the limitations it imposes are 100% certain with penatlies for infractions.

Totally agree to this point, very much...

By just passing a law or bill, Govt. gets guarantee on their requirements /proceedings and expectations. But what guarantee they can give in return of their performance to the public ?

Recently, I have their distrust towards Govt. and their stupid ways.

A book is different from a law. The book has binding and can be exchanged amongst people. So it doesnt apply to this argument.
Look, in the end unless you actually read Iyer's report you have no clue what rationale you are supporting. If you don't even know what it is how can you defend it.

You were going to post some papers which have some sort of model that say ~10B is the max that can be supported. Do you know for a fact whether the report even uses this model ? No

So its not just my opinion, man. Its your opinion on uncertain grounds that i've sucessfully challenged.

Exactly, but we have to see the rationale first, what rationale they offer for this bill.

A healthy distrust for govt is a culture we need to cultivate more in people. Thats the only way we will ever get a more accountable govt.

Lots of interesting points in there but it also asserts we have a population problem without offering any basis.

^^As I mentioned earlier in this thread, good people in Kerala will now go 'reverse' mode.

Even religious people were ignoring their community leaders' calls. Now, this stupid report will cause a rethinking, creating nuisance there.

Such a report was need, but surely not in Kerala a place with very high standards of living and population control.

I'm starting to wear my paranoid hat now, on this topic :)

After reading It may be OK to have 3rd child, only if it's a girl - The Times of India link by Nemisis, it looks like there are vested interests in mollifying India's people and population.

If resources are less in a country due to high population, people there will try to capture resource from others. Then who all need to worry ? With such a big and powerful population, India never went for a war. hmm...

If high percentage population are women, that country will be vastly a consumerist society. Their men will be a depressed lot :). Easy to control and manipulated...
