Best wishes to all

This is my first article (it will be better to say an atma gyan) on Techenclave. I have read here and also in many forum people asking as well as arguing which product is better like Intel or AMD, Asus or Gigabyte, ATI or NVIDIA and so on. From my 11 years experience in IT field I am writing this article to help people to understand the technologies before buying any product. Now let’s start.

As most of us know in a pc the vital part is CPU. So my emphasize will on building a decent CPU.
1. First of all decide what your need is and what you want from your pc
2. Decide your budget
3. Find the right product for your requirement

In my opinion there is no best product that one can get because technology changes as well as peoples requirement. At least I can say one can get the right product at a particular point of time.

By this time I assume you have decided your needs as well as budget. Now the next task is to divide the money in proportionate:
Money to divide= Total budget – 2400(cabinet + Optical drive) - HDD =160 gb

Now divide the rest of the money

PSU = 15%
RAM = 15%
Processor = 40%
Motherboard= 30%

Many of you might think where has gone the G.C and why only 160gb HDD and what is the logic. Let me explain.
Most of the time it is seen people rarely use more than 160 gb with OS. But you can use any size for back up. This practice will help you mostly in hard disk failure situation as your data is safe in your back up disk.

The graphics card depends on ones habit of playing games. Hence I will discuss it latter.

Before building a new CPU keep in mind the following few things.
1. Choose your vendor who has good reputation.
2. Ask your vendor in case of a RMA situation how many days it will take?
3. In today’s competition in market the total expenditure on CPU from vendor to vendor will hardly vary more than Rs500.00. So choose the right vendor because at the cross road he is the one who will fight for you with the distributors and companies and in the long run you will save a lot of time , botheration, and money.

Let’s start building our new CPU.

A good CPU is one which has a better sync between its components. As we know every components use power and most of the time the hardware failure occurs due to uneven power supply.

Choose at least true 450 wt. Some good PSU companies are Cooler Master, Tagan, Corsair, Point of View etc.
Then choose the Processor. AMD and Intel both are equally good. So don’t get trap into their war. Don’t look at their test results. Because test results are done in lab environment only. Real life result will be completely different from them. Then question arises how to choose the right one. Choose your processor according to your budget means the processor offering most features and value. Then come the question what to select from dicore, tricore or quadcore. It is true that so many cores are available but very few (like ORACLE) application can use them all. So it is up to you to decide what to buy. In my opinion if you want a pc to use for next 3 to 4 years then go with tri or quadcore.

Then come the selection of the motherboard. Choose it according to your budget. If your processor is Intel then chose the board with NVIDIA or ATI chip because most of the time they are better than Intel’s onboard graphics. If your processor is AMD then go with latest 790GX chipset or at least 780G.

Then Chose the RAM in pair. Why? Because you will be safe from latency as well as clock sync issue and also you will get real DDR2 boost. You can choose RAM from OCZ, G-Skill, Corsair, Transcend, and Kingston.

Now assembled and you have your new cpu ready.

NOTE: 1.Always believe that what you have bought is best for your requirement at that point of time
2. Donot listens to everyone because it is you who use it know it better
3. While selecting Graphics Card keep an eye on your budget and what types of game you play. If you are not hardcore gamer then stick with your onboard graphics as it is more than enough for day to day applications.
4. Belive me it is the overall product which give you the performance not individual one
5. You may ask me what is the use of sis soft or pcmark, my answer is these are made for people who want to argue only.
6. I can prove that layman’s eye can not detect the difference between 75 fps and 65 fps at a particular resolution
7. Our user environment also differs from one another hence the result will also vary.
8. At least use a good cooling fan and a thermal pasting.
9. Provide good ventilation through the cabinet
10. Try to maintain stable temperature through out the use because efficiency is inversely proportional to temperature i.e. temp. Increases, efficiency decreases.

If anyone who will follow the above mentioned steps will certainly get a CPU with optimum satisfaction and value for money.

Dear Lulu

I request you to recommend me a CPU and MB and cooling system .

My use is for trading the shares using Amibroker software . So it use for whole day , will it need any additional cooling systems.

And I also like to use multiple monitor in future, so is it need any special MB or all MB capable of Multiple monitor connection. Pls comment on the Memory size too. If you can provide appro. pricing too, it will be great help for me
